Good day everyone,
I hope you are all having a good day, welcome to CryptoGod-1's blog on all things crypto. In this post I will be looking at the recent comments by the outgoing Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) Commissioner who believes crypto perpetual futures should be given the green light very soon.
Outgoing CFTC Commissioner: Crypto Perpetual Futures Greenlight on the Horizon
The outgoing CFTC commissioner Summer Mersinger has revealed that he believes the agency would “very soon” approve crypto perpetual futures in the United States. On Thursday Mersinger noted that the commission had received applications for the approval of crypto perpetual futures in the US. He stated:
“I think those can come to market now, and we’re seeing some applications, and I believe we’ll have some of those products trading live very soon.”
She went on to state that it would be excellent to see these products trading onshore in the United States as she noted it was unfortunate that it had been driven offshore for so long. Mersinger added that the fact that crypto perpetual futures under US regulatory purview, “is a really good thing for these markets, and will be beneficial to the industry and the US economy.” She also highlighted that crypto assets are “clearly here to stay” as they are being embraced in the US
Mersinger said that she is stepping down from the regulator on May 30 and she will be formally joining Blockchain Association, the crypto trade group, on June 2. Brian D. Quintenz has been nominated by President Trump to serve as Chairman of the CFTC in the aim of a more business-friendly regulatory approach to overseeing US derivatives markets. Mersinger noted that CFTC has a “very strong incoming chairman who has a great voice for the crypto industry.”
She went on to state that “the best place for me to contribute to that is through the opportunity that I have with the Blockchain Association” in relation to her contribution to the upcoming stablecoin legislation and the market structure bill in the US. Not only will Mersinger be leaving the CFTC, but along with her departure will be three others in Republican Caroline Pham and Democrats Christy Goldsmith Romero and Kristin Johnson.
Have a great day.
Peace. CryptoGod-1.
