OKX Opens in Argentina

Good day everyone,

I hope you are all well and having an excellent week, welcome to CryptoGod-1’s blog on all things crypto. In this post I will be looking at the recent news of OKX opening localised trading services in Argentina.

OKX in Argentina

The exchange announced the launch of its localised trading services for Argentina, which commenced on the 7th of February 2024, and allows Argentinians access to the non-custodial OKX Web3 Wallet. This latest development will create a secure gateway for managing DeFi, trading NFTs, accessing dApps, and more in one of Latin America’s largest crypto markets. Argentina is also the nation with the third largest GDP in South America. As part of the launch OKX will be providing both a localised cryptocurrency exchange along with a Web3 wallet.

Other products the service will offer to local investors includes peer-to-peer trading, staking, and extensive liquidity which will span numerous digital assets. The president of OKX, Hong Fang, noted her expressed satisfaction with the launch of their latest expansion. She stated:

“We’re pleased to officially launch our latest expansion of our world-class crypto exchange and Web3 wallet in one of Latin America’s most vibrant crypto markets.”

She went on to note the excellent and vast potential of crypto and blockchain in Latin America while highlighting Argentina as a key point for their regional growth strategy. Argentina has the second-largest crypto market in Latin America with over million crypto users, according to Chainalysis.

The exchange opening shop in Brazil back in December 2023 to access Latin America's largest crypto market. With an increase in difficulties with cross-border payments, along with rising inflation, it is notable that Latin America is adopting crypto at a high rate. According to the Chainalysis Global Adoption Index, the region received about 9.1% of the global crypto in 2023. Institutional adoption in Latin America has also been encouraging with the largest Bank in Brazil, Itau Unibance offering crypto trading services to its clients. The bank also acts as the crypto custodian of the assets and allows its customers to trade assets such as Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Cities in Argentina such as Buenos Aires now accept Bitcoin as a form of tax payment and the Santa Fe province has also considered making use of funds from crypto mining to finance state projects.

Have a great day.

Peace. CryptoGod-1.
