Welcome to CryptoGod-1's blog on all things crypto. Today I will be looking at the recent release of a new Web3 portal with resources for blockchain developers created by Google.
Google Cloud’s Web3 Portal
The introduction of a Web3 portal containing resources for blockchain developers, including data sets and tutorials on creating nonfungible tokens (NFT's) has been released on Google Cloud. The service is offering all the technology, community, and resources required to build, while also offering up to $200,000 USD over 2 years for Google Cloud and Firebase usage, access to our Discord channel, foundation grants, VIP event access, and more, as per the website.
Thus far the cryptocurrency community has reacted in a mixed sense, with some claiming the lack of native Bitcoin and lightning support is a clear oversight, while others claimed not to be impressed by Google's development. Some on 'X' claimed the Web3 portal can be used as a comprehensive resource.
Developers are capable of accessing a range of products while also receiving testnet tokens to deploy and test their decentralized applications on Ethereum testnets Sepolia and Holesky. Along with a selection of learning programs and tutorials, there is also a raft of information regarding the implementation of Web3 loyalty programs along with how to secure digital assets with multi-party computation.
There have been several recent developments by Google in the Web3 industry, including recently when they expanded features to allow users to search their wallet balances across a number of blockchains at the same time. These include Bitcoin, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Optimism, Polygon and Fantom.
Google also updated their advertising policies at the beginning of 2024, meaning certain crypto products such as Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) are allowed to be advertised on major search engines.
Back in 2023 Google began their preparations for the Web3 portal launch as it appeared to be focusing on establishing partnerships. They integrated their BigQuery data warehouse with MultiversX back in October 2023, which will allow users to derive valuable insights from powerful data analytics and artificial intelligence tools. These will be available within the Google Cloud ecosystem.
A month before this, in September 2023, Google’s BigQuery added 11 blockchain networks to its data warehouse. Included within this expansion were networks such as Avalanche, Arbitrum, Cronos, Ethereum’s Görli testnet, Fantom, Near, Optimism, Polkadot, Polygon’s mainnet, Polygon’s Mumbai testnet, and Tron.
Just recently this month Google filed a lawsuit against two individuals from China, Yunfeng Sun and Hongnam Cheung. The lawsuits were issued to the pair for making use of the Google Play store to deceive people into fake crypto investments. The lawsuit did not disclose which specific apps were implicated, although Google revealed that it had deactivated 87 fraudulent apps associated with Sun and Cheung over the past four years. Collectively these apps had garnered nearly 100,000 downloads worldwide.
