Good day everyone,
I hope you are all having a good day, welcome to CryptoGod-1's blog on all things crypto. Today I will be looking at the recent accusations by Senator Elizabeth Warren regarding “Open Corruption” at the SEC.
Elizabeth Warren Claims “Open Corruption”
Senator Elizabeth Warren has claimed there is open corruption within the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) after she accused the current chair of dropping agency cases linked to some of his former clients. Current chair of the SEC, Paul Atkins was slammed by Warren (D-MA) in what she claims has been his participation in “open corruption” under U.S. President Donald Trump.
This came following a September 24 X post by the New York Times journalist Kenneth P. Vogel where it was claimed that SEC dropped a complaint against its chairman’s former client. Warren followed this up with a post of her own where she expressed her grievances regarding Atkins and the Trump administration at large.
The report by Vogel last Wednesday noted that Atkins was paid $1,450 an hour by Devon Archer’s lawyers to serve as an expert witness as the businessman faced claims he defrauded a Native American entity in 2018. Atkins responded to the media outlet stating the former SEC commissioner recused himself from the agency’s decision to drop the case. Archer was convicted of securities fraud in 2018 and was pardoned by Trump earlier this year.
The SEC have dropped many cases since Trump returned to the Oval Office, especially in relation to the crypto sector with cases against OpenSea, Ripple, and Coinbase all dropped or resolved. This came about as the SEC moved away from the heavy handed approach of the previous administration. The political battle is far from over as U.S. lawmakers such as Warren press the issues of “open corruption” at the SEC.
Have a great day.
Peace. CryptoGod-1.
