Today I will be writing a piece on an interesting space in the crypto world that I recently stumbled across; Bloktopia. With their whitepaper released in July 2021, they are a fairly newcomer in the Crypto space and are determined to become the 'home of Crypto'. Below I will outline some of the key aspects and features of what makes Bloktopia standout.

What is Bloktopia?

Blocktopia is aiming to become the go to destination in decentralized Metaverse. Built on the Polygon Network, which has excellent low fees compared to traditional Dapps on the Ethereum network, it promises to provide an unprecedented VR experience for the crypto community while bringing users all together in a complete, immersive and engaging environment. It will be laid out in a Tower formation, with different levels signifying different aspects of the metaverse. This Skyscraper will be made of 21 levels, paying recognition to the 21 million Bitcoin. Holders of the tokens with be referred to as Bloktopian's. The Skyscraper will act as the central hub for users of all levels in crypto. Bloktopian's will be able to earn revenue through real estate ownership, advertising revenue, playing games, building networks and much more.

What is a Metaverse?

While most of us in the crypto space are well versed with this term, not everyone may be fully aware of what a Metaverse is, or what potential it holds. A metaverse is a bridge between the real physical world and the virtual worlds within the within the decentralised and open source virtual world. Protocols will be developed and emerge within the metaverse for creating, storing, and managing digital value. Examples of this include digital art, real estate & advertising space. Bloktopia will be a central hub of its metaverse, giving , users access to crypto information and immersive content all in one place. 

Tokenomics & Revenue Streams

Bloktopia will be ran on a governance model, where NFT holders will form part of that governance as part of a DAO. Proposals will be made, where holders will vote on a majority rules basics.  Below is a break down of the tokens and their uses within Bloktopia.

• Blok - This is the utility token and native token of Bloktopia. This will be required to purchase or lease real estate in Bloktopia, along with offering features such as accessing exclusive events, joining pre sales and staking. These tokens will initially be available to purchase through a series of Private and Public investment rounds.

• ReBlok - This will be launched alongside the Blok token, and will be a part of the Bloktopia Marketplace. Blok token holders will be able to purchase real estate within the Metaverse, via a NFT system. This will be known as ReBlok. The marketplace will also have items for users to personalise their real estate.

• AdBlok - This will be a revenue stream for users to benefit from the advertisements within Bloktopia. Investors will be able to take advantage of the small totems within Bloktopia. 50% of these totems will be available to purchase through NFTs, and that will ensure 50% of all revenues generated through advertising on these totems will be distributed to the NFT holders. This is Adblok, and can be purchased with Blok. The location of the totem, dependant on the footfall in that area, will determine the price and distribution of revenue. The lower levels will garner the most footfall and be seen as the premium location, along with the Auditorium on Level 6 and Gaming Zone on Level 21.

The total supply of Block is 200 Billion, and will be distributed between different investment rounds. The price will increase with each round and will see 38 Billion, or 19%, of the total supply available once Public sale begins. The team will retain 15% for themselves, along with 33% of the supply remaining in the treasury as a back up to the project.

Social Aspects

To enter Bloktopia users will ned to create a Bloktopia wallet via email or social media, which comes with two-factor authentication. This wallet will act as a Passport within the Bloktopia metaverse and user will store their BLOK tokens there. The wallet will support multiple blockchains, and will allow for wallet import from blockchains such as POLY, BTC, ETH & BSC, plus more. The wallet will also include the handy feature of being able to store and display ERC 1155 NFT's, meaning anything you get within the Bloktopia Metaverse will be visible in your wallet.

Avatar: Once users have created their wallets they will need to create their custom avatar. These are available in many customizable combinations, while users will also be able to name their avatar. The avatar and name will be applied to users wallets once they have been created. The avatars can be enhanced further through the purchase of items from within the marketplace to give even further individuality and unique exclusivity.

Levels: The Tower will have 21 levels, and users will spawn outside the Skysraper once they have created their avatar. Once you enter, you will be in level 1, which will be the busiest part of the Skyscraper. This level will contain cryptocurrency pricing information, a helpdesk, an agenda and a navigation area. Users will also be able to get an overview of events taking place, along with retail space. These will be seen as premium locations, having a major presence from the likes of, Binance, Coinmarketcap, CoinGecko and major Crypto influencers.

Level 6 will house the Auditorium, which will be the go to location within the Tower for interactive video presentations from key industry leaders within the crypto world. Attendance by Bloktopian's will be rewarded with Blok to their wallet. This will be a premium location as Bloktopian's will also be given the chance to win additional Blok, in the hopes of creating an atmosphere similar to that of a sporting event. 

Finally, the top floor of Level 21 will be a luxury penthouse which will be used exclusively for gaming. Bloktopian's will compete for Blok, and the games will include popular multiplayer games, family friendly games, and 18+ games which include poker and gambling.

Bloktopia Team

The main players of the team are made up of the CEO, CMO, Commercial Director, and CTO.

CEO: Ross Tavakoli has been involved in the Crypto space since 2015. His experience stems from the retail investment side, and Bloktopia is his vision for developing it into the Home of Crypto.

CMO: Paddy Carroll is an experienced marketer having worked for brands in the UK such as BT Group and Sky. He leads the marketing strategy for Bloktopia along with driving forward the ad revenue opportunities while also onboarding market leading platforms to offer reach with a whole new captive audience.

Commercial Director: Libby Rothwell is experienced with over 15 years in the film industry along with creating commercial partnerships. She understands the importance of networking and both physical and virtual events having attended some of the largest film markets in the world; The American Film Market (AFM) & Cannes.

CTO: Simon Benson is the Tech lead, having gained over 25 years of commercial immersive development experience. Previously, he had the role of Director of Immersive Technology at Sony and has led multi-million-dollar AAA game projects in 3D console gaming, and is the founder of PlayStation VR.

Partners & Investors

Bloktopia has partnered and received investment for some of the following to help them develop and create their metaverse:

• Polygon - This is the Blockchain which Bloktopia will be built on, and the project has secured investment from Polygon. As the most active layer-2 on Ethereum with some of the best scaling solution available in the market, Bloktopia chose the Polygon Network due to its EVM compatibility; high speed, low cost transactions and the overall compatibility of the network. 

• Venly - This is the leading platform for blockchain game developers and Bloktopia will develop all its digital assets in partnership with Venly. The technology available from Venly allows Bloktopia to bridge the gap between crypto and gaming, and with Polygon becoming a go to network for Gaming and NFT Dapps, it will provide an ideal solution for the development of Bloktopia.

• Zokyo - This security outfit will protect the Bloktopia Metaverse by providing security services such as security auditing, penetration testing (network, mobile, app), data leak discovery, social engineering, and VAPT testing, etc.

Conclusion

While this project is still very young in terms of only launching in mid 2021, they have an ambition and developed product on offer. Users will become part of a social community within the Bloktopia Metaverse, allowing land purchase, gaming, revenue streams via advertising, and find themselves in a hub for learning all things about crypto. The project will be spread out over multiple levels, meaning all sorts of applications and ventures will appear throughout the space. With a strong team and partners secured, Bloktopia is aiming to become a main player in the Metaverse space and has all the attributes needed to thrive.
