Good day everyone,
I hope you are all well and having an excellent day, welcome to CryptoGod-1’s blog on all things sports related. It was a huge win for West Ham last night in the Europa Conference League Final, beating Fiorentina to win their first major piece of silverware in 43 years, and their first major European trophy triumph since winning the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1965.
Fiorentina 1-2 West Ham
Bonaventura - Benrahma, Bowen
During the first half Fiorentina were on top, making it look like there would only be one outcome in Prague. Rice did see an effort go wide early on, but after that the Hammers were mostly pinned into their own half. Milenkovic headed over from Biraghi, who soon after was bloodied from a missile thrown by West Ham fans at the Fiorentina captain when he went to take a corner. Bar that incident, the Italian side continue to dominate and Jovic had the ball in the back of the net just before the break, only for VAR to rule it out for offside.
West Ham showed more threat and attack in the second half, looking dangerous from corners. Their opener arrived when Biraghi was punished for a handball in the area, allowing Benrahma to step up on 62 minutes and strike the ball home. Five minutes later Fiorentina were back in it, when Gonzalez knocked the ball down for Bonaventura to score. Mandragora shot just wide as Fiorentina looked to take the lead, while the game looked to be heading towards extra time. Soucek twice threatened for the Hammers, but in the 90th minute it was Bowen who made the difference. He timed his run perfectly to latch on Paqueta's pass and scored the decisive goal. The West Ham fans were in dreamland and the club made a huge statement by winning the Europa Conference League.

Many believe it will be captain Declan Rice's final game for the club, with clubs such as Arsenal, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich interested in his services. West Ham chairman David Sullivan said the club gave Rice their word that he can leave for an appropriate fee, and likely he will be leaving after guiding his side to a major trophy and ensuring they will once again be playing European Football next season. Many fans will hope he stays, but if this is his final game for the club, what a way to say goodbye.
Premier League Sides in Europe 23/24
The win now means eight Premier League sides will compete in Europe next season.
Manchester City, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Newcastle United will all enter the Champions League at the Group Stage.
Liverpool, Brighton, and West Ham will all enter the Europa League at the Group Stage.
Finally, Aston Villa will enter the Europa Conference League at the Play-Off Round.
With eight Premier League sides across three European Competitions, the Premier League will be hoping to produce more winners next season.
Have a great day.
Peace. CryptoGod-1.
