Good day everyone,
I hope you are all having a good day, welcome to CryptoGod-1's blog on all things sports. In this post I will be looking at the UEFA Champions League draw for the 2025/26 season. All 36 teams have been drawn and we know the big games and big hitters to look forward to.
UEFA Champions League Draw 25/26
Last season saw the first edition of the new Champions League format, with 36 teams all playing in one league table. While many, myself included, did not find the league format to be fair or concise, ultimately it resulted in the first ever win of the Champions League for PSG. Led by Luis Enrique, it was a final where PSG demolished Inter by 5 goals to nil. Will this season bring the same level of excitement and drama throughout? We will find out today as the draw is due to take place for the eight matches each team will play in the league phase.

The draw will see six Premier League competing in the competition for the first time thanks to the extra place afford to the Premier League due to the UEFA coefficients last season along with Tottenham beating Manchester United in the Europa League final last May to book themselves a ticket for this year's Champions League.
The six English clubs are:
Liverpool
Arsenal
Manchester City
Chelsea
Newcastle
Tottenham
They will be joined by some household names including Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Juventus, Inter, PSG, Ajax, Benfica, and Atletico Madrid. There will also be some unfamiliar names in the competition this season, including Kairat Almaty (Kazakhstan) after they eliminated Celtic to ensure no Scottish teams will compete in this season's Champions League. The clubs have all been arranged into 4 pots based on their coefficients and each team will play 2 teams from each pot. The coefficients are based on each teams ranking over five seasons of results in UEFA competitions.
Each side will play against one team from each pot at home and one team from each pot away, ensuring each team plays 8 matches. Teams from the same nation cannot play another team from that nation, meaning Newcastle in Pot 4 and Tottenham in Pot 3 cannot play Liverpool, Manchester City, or Chelsea from Pot 1. It should make for a very interesting draw and there is a high chance that a team from Pot 1 such as PSG, Real Madrid, or Barcelona could face very tricky ties from each pot (at least on paper).

The draw consists using automated software to assign each team their opponents. Initially each team will be individually drawn from a physical pot, and after that the computer software will get to work placing each team against their opposition. It is nowhere near as exciting as the old format of teams being physically drawn from the pots, but unfortunately it is how the sport has developed.
The draw will take place from 18:00 CET on Thursday 28 August and it will be streamed live on UEFA.com and the Champions League app. Once the draw has taken place I will update this post with the draw below.
The draw for the six English clubs went as follows:
Liverpool

Arsenal

Manchester City

Chelsea

Newcastle

Tottenham
