Predictions

Now for the most exciting part, as I go through the latest info regarding each team to make an attempt at predicting the results for this week matches. Remember this is just my fun analysis and should not be taken as advice or a guarantee.

Wolves - Liverpool

Wolves are currently in fifteenth with 3 points, while Liverpool are in third with 10 points.

The hosts fell to a 3-2 loss against Palace last time out, where a frantic second half saw all five goals scored. O'Neil knows their win over Everton was important in the relegation race, but overall more work needs to be done. They ran United close in the opening game of the season and while changing manager from Lopetegui would always cause problems, but a lack of points is being to look worrying. They had managed a five game unbeaten run, conceding only once, at home prior to the arrival of Brighton. Getting back to their tough defence and keeping the goals out will be the name of the game against this Liverpool side.

Liverpool comfortably beat Villa 3-0 at home in their last game and will have the option of handing new signing Gravenberch a debut in this game. Klopp was without his two first choice centre backs against goal happy Villa, but his side managed the game comfortably. They have held onto Salah despite the attention of Saudi clubs, and are one of six teams yet to lose in the league this season. Liverpool are unbeaten in 15 league games having scored in 14 of them going back to last season.

Wolves will be without Hodge, while Liverpool will be missing the suspended van Dijk, while there are injury concerns for Thiago, Konate, and Alexander-Arnold.

Wolves managed a shock 3-0 win at home in this fixture last season, although Liverpool did win the reverse by 2-0. It was a different Liverpool that came to town last time, with Klopp seemingly having found a formula which is keeping the goals out while getting the best of his attack. Nunez will be raring to get more goals, while Gakpo, Salah, and co will also be looking to stake their claim for a main spot in the side. I expect goals, and lots of them, for Liverpool in this one.

Final score: 0-3

Aston Villa - Crystal Palace

Villa are currently in tenth with 6 points, while Palace are sitting in seventh with 7 points.

Aston Villa will be looking to bounce back from their 3-0 defeat to Liverpool last time out, especially with their Europa Conference League group games on the horizon. They have managed to win each of their last eight home league games, with an aggregate score of 18-2. That run began with a win over Palace last March, and they are unbeaten at home against Palace in six. Emery knows his side need to continue their attacking flair but will be up against a rigid Hodgson side.

Palace managed a 3-2 win over Wolves last time out, and their attack is flowing. Hodgson accepted they are still a work in progress, with only one win in their last eleven visits to Villa Park something he will hope to address. Palace are unbeaten away from home so far this campaign, having scored six goals in the process. If they avoid defeat to Villa they will remain undefeated in their first three away league games of a new season for the first time since 1994-95.

Villa will be missing Buendia, Diego Carlos, Iroegbunam, Mings, and Ramsey, while they have concerns over Moreno. Palace meanwhile will be missing Franca and Olise, while they will need to check on Guehi.

Form Last Six League Games:

Away: WLDW

Palace managed a 3-1 win over Villa back in August last season, but Villa did win the return game 1-0 in March. Both these sides have managed seven points each across the last five Premier League meetings, and they could provide an entertaining battle here. I think Emery will ensure his side have too much about them at home, but it will be a tight game throughout.

Final score: 2-0

Fulham - Luton

The cottagers are sitting in thirteenth with 4 points on the board, while Luton are currently nineteenth with no points.

Last time out Fulham were humbled 5-1 by Manchester City, but Marco Silva will know his side were always against it when facing the champions and were unlucky with the officiating in the first goal, but the ultimate loss against the force of Haaland leaves the Cottagers with one win in their opening four league games. They have conceded 10 league goals so far, with only Burnley doing worse. They have no clean sheets at home since February and their only win, against Everton, seemed an unfair result. Plenty of work ahead as Silva looks to galvanise this side.

Luton lost 2-1 at home to West Ham last time out as their Premier League adventure continues to see them struggle. They are one of only two sides without a point so far, although do have a game in hand against that side due to works at Kenilworth Road. Only Everton have scored as few goals this season, with both sides having netted twice. Luton's away record is standing at 32 years and 28 games without an away win in the top flight. They are also winless in seven games against Fulham going back to 1998 in a second division game.

Fulham will be without Lukic and Iwobi, while they will also need to assess Cairney and Palhinha. Luton will be without Potts and Clark, while they will also need to check the fitness of Doughty, Lockyer, and Osho.

Form Last Six League Games:

Home: WLDL

Away: LLL

Fulham beat Luton 7-0 back at Craven Cottage in 2022, and while less goals will be expected here, the same outcome is on the cards. Luton are struggling to find their feet in the Premier League and although they will give a spirited performance, there can only be one winner. It will be tight given Fulham's struggles in midfield, but they should have enough about them to return to winning ways.

Final score: 2-1

Manchester United - Brighton

Manchester United are sitting in eleventh with 6 points, while Brighton are currently sixth with 9 points.

Ten Hag will be happy to return to the football after sagas regarding Maguire, Antony, and Sancho emerged over the break. They lost 3-1 away to Arsenal last time out and with a game against Bayern awaiting in the Champions League, Ten Hag needs a quick remedy. Having lost two games already, a loss to Brighton would make it the first time since 1989-90 that United have lost of their opening five league games. Their home form is strong though, going unbeaten in their previous 32 home games in all competitions.

De Zerbi will have a busy week with their first-ever Europa League match against AEK Athens ahead, but Brighton beat Newcastle 3-1 last time in the league and will look for another positive result here. Barring a wobble against West Ham, they have been excellent, especially young Ferguson. The Seagulls have won four and lost four of their previous eight away league games, and with tricky ties ahead could see this as a catalyst to push on over the coming weeks.

United are without Shaw, Mainoo, Antony, Diallo, Varane, and Malacia. They are also needing to assess new signing Amrabat along with Martinez and Mount ahead of this one. Brighton will be without Enciso and Moder, while they will need to check the fitness of Welbeck and Ferguson.

Form Last Six League Games:

Home: WLWL

Away: WWLW

Brighton beat United 2-1 away last season, and this game has the hallmark of another pressure filled game for Ten Hag. De Zerbi will also be feeling the heat knowing the upcoming schedule, but they are in good spirits going into this. I think the attack of Brighton along with the solid defence of United means this will be a close game, and therefore I am going for a draw.

Final score: 2-2

Tottenham - Sheffield United

Spurs are placed second in the table with 10 points, while Sheffield United have 1 point and sit in seventeenth.

Ange oversaw his side demolish Burnley 5-2 back before the international break. Postecoglou will be happy with the return on his performance given his sides loss in the Cup prior to that, but the fact Spurs have now scored at least twice in each of his league games in telling. The attack is firing, bar Richarlison, while the midfield has a new lease of life. With bigger tests ahead this month, Ange will want to ensure his side keep their momentum going. So far they have only been outscored in the league by Brighton.

Sheffield United drew with Everton at home for their first points of the campaign, and will look to build on that performance here. Heckingbottom's side were left to rue what could have been and will look to bring that fighting spirit into this one. They are out of the bottom three on goal difference alone, but four of their last five games in all competitions have ended in defeat. Building on their solidary point will be the key to this, but they will be aware of the difficulty of their task here.

Spurs will be without Bentancur, Sessegnon, Gil, Lo Celso, and Whiteman. Sheffield United are missing Jebbison, Brewster, Fleck, Osborn, and Lowe. They also need to check in on Norrington-Davies, Larouci, and Egan.

Form Last Six League Games:

Home: DWWW

Away: LLLD

Spurs beat Sheffield United by 3-1 and 4-0 wins back in 2020-21, and will be looking for more of the same here. The Blades did manage to beat Spurs in the FA Cup last season, but under Ange this is a new look side. The goals and confidence should be flowing, meaning a big result could be on the cards for Spurs unless the Blades can cause and unlikely upset.

Final score: 3-0

West Ham - Manchester City

West Ham are sitting in fourth with 10 points, while Manchester City are top of the table with 12 points.

Moyes has began the season in stellar fashion, and following on from the Europa Conference League success last season, West Ham will be looking to retain their unbeaten record in this one, having beaten Luton last time out. They have lost 12 of their last 15 against City and drew the other three, meaning this will be no easy test for the Hammers. Without a clean sheet in their last seven competitive games in all competitions, they will look to keep Pep's side quiet, although they have conceded at least two goals in seven of their last eight league encounters with Guardiola's men. With their Europa League group games coming around the corner, any result here would be massive for Moyes.

City meanwhile are the only side with a 100% record, which they continued last time out with a 5-1 home win over Fulham. Pep will be back in the dugout following his successful back operation in Barcelona, and he will be certain to demand another win here. City begin their Champions League campaign this week, A hectic schedule ahead could see some rotation, but Pep will target perfection in every game ahead.

West Ham will need to assess Coufal ahead of this one, while Manchester City will be without De Bruyne, while Stones, Grealish, and Kovacic will all need to have their fitness checked.

Form Last Six League Games:

Home: WWWW

Away: DWWW

City beat West Ham 2-0 away on the opening day of last season, and are unbeaten in each of their last eight away days against the Hammers. While Pep may rest some players, just like Moyes might, both will still want to put out as strong a side as possible here. West Ham will be up against it and while they could cause an upset, I think City will have too much and end up the winners here.

Final score: 1-3

Everton - Arsenal

Everton are currently eighteenth with a single point on the board, while Arsenal are fifth with 10 points.

Dyche oversaw his side claiming their first point of the season, against Sheffield United, last time out. Everton scored their first goals of the campaign following their three previous loses, and they have lost five of their last six home games going into this one. Their two goals scored is the joint lowest in the division, and a 2-1 win over Doncaster Rovers in the Cup is their only victory this campaign. New signing Beto has looked dangerous upfront, and along with Danjuma they will hope to provide the badly needed firepower to keep Everton in the league next season.

Arsenal overcame Manchester United in a thrilling 3-1 encounter last time in the league, leaving it late to secure the win. With their long awaited return to the Champions League resulting in a game with PSV, Arteta will hope to continue his sides winning ways here. However, their away form is lacking with Arsenal only managing two wins in their previous six away league encounters. They have also famously struggled at Goodison over the years, losing four time and drawing once in the last five games there.

The Toffees have to do without Coleman and Alli, while they will need to assess Branthwaite, Harrison, Andre Gomes, Calvert-Lewin, Tarkowski, Keane, and Dobbin. Arsenal will be missing Partey, Timber, and Elneny.

Form Last Six League Games:

Home: LLLD

Away: WWDW

Everton managed to overcome Arsenal back in February, but Arsenal thrashed Everton in the return game in March. It is always a tough encounter between these sides, as although Arsenal should be the favourites, their hoodoo against Everton means otherwise. It will be a close and tight game as Dyche looks to frustrate Arterta, and while I think a narrow Arsenal win is very possible, I am going to back a draw here.

Final score: 1-1

Bournemouth - Chelsea

The Cherries are sixteenth with 2 points, while Chelsea are sitting in twelfth with 4 points.

Bournemouth managed a 2-2 draw with Brentford prior to the international break after conceding a late equaliser, meaning the Cherries are still awaiting their first win of the season. Iraola's forward-thinking style of football is yet to result in wins, but given they have played both Liverpool and Spurs already, all is not doom and gloom. They do only have one clean sheet in their last 12 Premier League matches, while they are also without a win in eight league games going back to April. Its early days, but Iraola will need to get a win on the board soon to lift the spirits of the club.

Pochettino oversaw his side losing to Nottingham Forest at home last time out as the issues continue to mount up for Chelsea. The Blues will be distraught as their form has failed to improve from last season, with Jackson being particularly wasteful in front of goal. The club has two wins in their last sixteen league games, which considering their spending outlay is simply not good enough. The entire side needs to improve, but giving the number of new players it is understandable they need time to gel. However, time will not be afforded forever, so Pochettino will need a solution quickly.

Bournemouth will be missing Outtara, Scott, Fredericks, and Marcondes. They will also need to check on Adams. Chelsea will be missing Wesley Fofana, Nkunku, Lavia, Chukwuemeka, Bettinelli, and James. The Blues will also be required to check the fitness of Chalobah, Badiashile, and Broja.

Form Last Six League Games:

Away: DLWL

Chelsea managed to win both these encounter by a two goal margin last season, although Bournemouth did beat Chelsea 4-0 at home back in 2019. With Chelsea is such poor form it is tough to see them producing the good here, having only managed a win against Luton so far. However, Pochettino will have worked on things over the break so he will be confident in his side. The Cherries will give a good account of themselves here, and while it wont be easy, I think they will hold out for a point against the Blues.

Final score: 2-2

Newcastle United - Brentford

Newcastle are sitting in fourteenth with 3 points, while Brentford are in eight with 6 points.

The Magpies lost 3-1 to Brighton two weeks ago, as Howe has seen his side lose three league games on the bounce. With a mammoth Champions League game ahead in their group with Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan, Newcastle will need to find some domestic form quickly. Their other league loses came against City and Liverpool, but if Howe wants this side back in the Champions League next season he needs to get results in those games. They have just two wins in nine league games, while they have only one clean sheet in their previous 15 league games.

The Bees managed a late home draw against Bournemouth last time out, as they remain one of the unbeaten sides in the league. Even without Toney, the Bees have managed to only lose one in their last eleven league games. They have shown resilience and are unbeaten in seven overall, but Frank would certainly like to see the draws become wins. They have an unfavourable record against Newcastle since the Bees were promoted to the Premier League, but so far the club are showing they are more than capable of being a mainstay in the league.

The Magpies will be missing Krafth and Willock, while they will also need to check on Botman, Manquillo, Tonali, and Anderson.

Form Last Six League Games:

Home: WLLL

Away: DWDD

With Newcastle having fitness concerns ahead of this one, a draw could be on the cards once again for Franks side. Newcastle put 7 past Brentford in the league across two wins last season, but Frank's side are showing they can battle the best. With one eye on their Champions League game, I think Newcastle might be distracted at home here and allows Frank's side to steal a point.

Final score: 2-2

Nottingham Forest - Burnley

Forest are sitting in ninth with 6 points while Burnley are sitting bottom of the table with no points so far.

Cooper's side managed a narrow win over Chelsea last time out, managing an away win to prove they have moved up a level from where they were last season. Elanga and Awoniyi look like they are a match made in heaven for their link up play, and both offensively and defensively they look a much improved side. A win here would see them win five successive top-flight home matches for the first time since 1991 under Brian Clough. The club have also managed to score in each of their previous eleven league games, their longest run since 1995. With Awoyini getting a goal involvement in each of his last eight league games, he is the danger man who can propel the club up the table.

Burnley have lost all three of their games in the league, going down to Spurs last time out. They are still finding their feet in the league and Kompany will know things need to improve quickly, but their three league games have all been at home with nothing to show for their efforts. The club is looking to avoid losing their first four fixtures of a season, in what would be the third time in their history (1927-28 and 2002-03). While their game in hand against Luton will be pivotal, turning their form around asap is the aim for now and a strong performance away to Forest is exactly what the club needs.

The tricky trees will need to check on Hennessey and Danilo ahead of this one. Burnley are without Obafemi, Churlinov, and Ekdal, while they need to check on Ramsey and da Silva.

Form Last Six League Games:

Home: LWLW

Away: LLL

Forest managed a win in the recent Cup game between these sides, while these two last met in the top flight in the 1970-71 season where the home side won both games. Burnley have the better recent record overall, but going into this one it is clear that Forest must be the favourites. They are renowned for their strength at the City Ground, and I dont see Burnely capable of causing enough damage here. Forest for the win.

Final score: 2-0
