Week Predictions & Final Results

So in terms of the predicted scores, I got 1/10 correct scores this weekend. In terms of match-winner/loser, I managed to predict 3/10 correctly this weekend.

Predicted: Crystal Palace 0-2 Manchester City

Result: Crystal Palace 2-4 Manchester City

Mateta, Edouard - De Bruyne x2, Lewis, Haaland

City welcomed Haaland and De Bruyne back to the side but Palace took an early lead as Mateta scored in the 3rd minute from Wharton's pass following a loose Stone ball. Ten minutes later City were level as De Bruyne found the top corner after cutting in from the left. Henderson saved from Haaland while Ayew hit the bar in a three on one attack. Eze had a penalty appeal turned away following a Gvardiol challenge, but just after the break City went ahead as Lewis saw his  deflected effort go into the net in the 47th minute. Alvarez saw a shot deflected wide off Anderson and Grealish fired over. City pressed for a third and got it in the 66th minute when Haaland scored from a De Bruyne pass. Four minutes they had their fourth when De Bruyne scored from Rodri's pass. Palace did get a consolation goal at the end in the 86th miunte when Edouard scored after Munoz robbed Akanji.

Predicted: Aston Villa 3-1 Brentford

Result: Aston Villa 3-3 Brentford

Watkins x2, Rogers - Jorgensen, Mbeumo, Wissa

Emery's side managed to salvage a point here after they collapsed following an excellent start. Villa had most of the ball early on but Brentford threatened with Mbeumo hitting the side netting. Villa did get the lead in the 39th minute when Watkins headed in from McGinn's cross. After the break Villa started brightly as Rogers scored on the turn in the 46th minute. Brentford got back into the game just before the hour mark when Jorgensen saw the ball creep in off his leg. Two minutes later they were level when Mbeumo scored from Reguilon's cross, and in the 68th minute Brentford were ahead. Wissa got Brentford's third when he was on hand to turn the ball in from Reguilon's cross. Villa managed to draw themselves level in the 80th minute when he headed in from Bailey's cross. Konsa wasted a late chance with a header to steal the points for Villa, and in the end Emery's side slipped up in their race for fourth.

Predicted: Everton 2-2 Burnley

Result: Everton 1-0 Burnley

Calvert-Lewin

The Toffees emerged with a massive three points in their relegation clash against Burnley. It was a poor opening half of football, with neither side offering much in terms of clear cut chances. The moment of the half, and the game, arrived in the second minute of first half stoppage time. Muric was sloppy in possession as Kompany's men were the architects of their downfall when Calvert-Lewin charged down his clearance and the ball looped into the net. Calvert-Lewin forced another save from Muric after the break while Doucoure headed over from Young's cross. O'Shea got sent off in the 67th minute when his poor control allowed McNeil in and he ended up fouling the Everton winger. The win ensured Everton did not go 14 league games without a league victory, while the defeat leaves Burnley all but assured of relegation back to the Championship.

Predicted: Fulham 2-2 Newcastle

Result: Fulham 0-1 Newcastle

Guimarães

Eddie Howe claimed this was one of Newcastle's best wins of the season, but it was Fulham who made the fast start. Robinson had a chance saved before Willian put an effort wide. After that Palhinha put an effort wide before Gordon fired wide twice for Newcastle. Gordon got Newcastle's first chance on target after the break while Pereira had an effort saved by Dubravka. Schar headed in from a Gordon cross but VAR ruled it out for a foul by Burn on Bassey. Guimarães made up for that with a goal in the 81st minute by firing home from a Barnes cross. Fulham could not find a way to make things level and Howe's side recorded their third win against Fulham this season.

Predicted: Luton 1-2 Bournemouth

Result: Luton 2-1 Bournemouth

Clark, Morris - Tavernier

Luton gave their survival hopes a boost as they secured the win against Bournemouth. The Cherries were wasteful early on as Tavernier's free-kick struck the crossbar before Tavernier and Kluivert fired wide. Chong fired over for Luton but overall there was little quality in the first half. This changed after the break, with Luton times in the first five minutes in the second half forcing saves. Bournemouth managed to take the lead moments later when in the 52nd minute Kluivert teed up Tavernier to score past Kaminski. Luton kept fighting and Morris hit the post. Luton did managed to get level when Clark powered a low shot into the bottom corner in the 73rd minute. Morris got himself on the end of Woodrow's cross in the 90th minute to steal the points for Luton and give themselves a real chance at avoiding the drop.

Predicted: Wolves 1-0 West Ham

Result: Wolves 1-2 West Ham

Sarabia - Paqueta, Ward-Prowse

West Ham could have taken an early lead when Bowen found Soucek, Fabianksi made some save but Wolves finally took the lead in the 33rd minute when Emerson was penalised for a clumsy challenge on Ait Nouri before Sarabia stepped up to convert. West Ham struggled to create chance in the first half, with Antonio getting their first shot on target in the second half. Bowen and Ait Nouri both have to come off from worrying injuries, while Emerson had a goal ruled off for a foul in the build up play. West Ham did get their goal when Kilman handled the ball before Paqueta scored from the spot in the 72nd minute. Ward-Prowse completed the turnaround in the 82nd minute with a wonderful inswinging corner which went in at the far post. Wolves pushed late on, with Kilman having a goal ruled out late on in a subjective and controversial decision.

Predicted: Brighton 1-2 Arsenal

Result: Brighton 0-3 Arsenal

Saka, Havertz, Trossard

Arsenal moved back top of the Premier League with another impressive performance and win here. Gabriel headed Odegaard's free-kick wide early on before Enciso shot over and Moder put a shot wide. Saka then put one wide before Jesus had an effort saved. Adingra fired over and Odegaard before Lamptey had a penalty appeal turned down for a clash with Raya. Arsenal did get a penalty, which Saka converted in the 33rd minute, after Lamptey lunged on Jesus in the area. After the break Enciso had a effort tipped behind by Raya. Odegaard forced a save before Jorginho got in behind Brighton's left and squared for Havertz to score in the 62nd minute. Trossard got one against his old side in the 86th minute after racing clear and chipping Verbruggen as Arsenal moved back to the top of the league.

Predicted: Manchester United 1-3 Liverpool

Result: Manchester United 2-2 Liverpool

Fernandes, Mainoo - Díaz, Salah

This ended up being a one sided game in the opening half, with Liverpool having 8 corners and 15 shots. The expected goals, of 0.00 vs 1.59 demonstrated the dominance of Liverpool in the first half, although Garnacho had gotten in behind in the opening minute only to have his effort ruled out for offside. From there Liverpool dominated, as Szoboszlai drew a save from Onana. Salah was thwarted by a last ditch Wan-Bissaka effort before Szoboszlai wasted more chances. The opener came in the 23rd minute when a Robertson corner was flicked on by Nunez and Diaz scored. Salah, Nunez and Bradley wasted opportunities to extend the lead and Liverpool were made to pay five minutes into the second half. A poor pass by Quansah was pounced on by Bruno, who fired a 50 yard effort over Kelleher and into the goal. The momentum changed from there and Garnacho put a chance over. Rashford forced a save by Kelleher and Bruno just failed to connect with a Dalot ball over the top. Mainoo scored in the 67th minute after getting the ball back from Garnacho. Liverpool wasted chances to get back into the game, but in the 84th minute Salah converted from the spot after Wan-Bissaka's foul on substitute Elliott. Despite their 28 shots in the game Liverpool failed to find the winner and lost top spot in the league to Arsenal on goal difference.

Predicted: Sheffield United 2-4 Chelsea

Result: Sheffield United 2-2 Chelsea

Bogle, McBurnie - Thiago Silva, Madueke

Following their win over United it was a poor result for Chelsea. The Blues started well as Silva scored in the 11th minute to give them the lead from a Gallagher corner. Sheffield United almost got back level when Silva's blind backpass was pounced on by McBurnie but Brereton Diaz could not score. Hamer played a lovely ball through Caicedo's legs before Bogle scored past Petrovic in the 32nd minute. In the second half the Blades saw McBurnie head wide while Hamer hit the side netting. Madueke made the most of his opportunity by putting Chelsea back ahead in the 66th minute when Palmer played his the ball down the right before Madueke moved inside and scored. Sheffield United pushed on looking for a leveller and found it in the third minute of stoppage time when McBurnie found the back of the net. McAtee hesitated late on when the Blades could have broke on the attack, but a share of the spoils likely wont be enough in their battle against the drop.

Predicted: Spurs 3-1 Nottingham Forest

Result: Spurs 3-1 Nottingham Forest

Murillo, van de Ven, Porro - Wood

With Villa having already dropped points in the race for Champions League this was a perfect chance for Spurs to move into fourth. Spurs made a bright start, but Murillo almost saw an effort loop in for Forest but it went just wide. In the 15th minute Murillo turned the ball into his own net from Werner's cross. Tottenham pushed for a second but Forest were level in the 27th minute Elanga cut the ball back for Wood to score. Wood hit a two-yard rebound against the post when he looked certain to score as the sides went in level. Postecoglou responded with a half-time double substitution and in the 52nd minute they restored their lead as Van de Ven scored his first goal for the club. In the 58th minute Porro scored from Bentancur's flicked header from a corner to give Spurs the win. Forest struggled to threaten and Son could have got another for Spurs, but they secured a big win as they moved into fourth.
