Good day everybody,
Welcome to CryptoGod-1's blog on all things sports. Today I will be doing a quick recap of the second legs in the Carabao Cup Semi Finals, which took place during the week on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. With both legs complete we now have our finalists for the showpiece game at Wembley on Sunday 26th February 2023 to decide this years winner of the Carabao Cup.
Semi Final Second Legs
Tuesday 31st January 2023 at St. James Park
Newcastle 2-1 Southampton (First Leg 1-0) - Newcastle advance with a 3-1 victory
Longstaff x2 - Adams
All the goals came in the first half hour here, as Longstaff scored after 5 minutes when Trippier played him in from the right. He doubled his tally on 21 minutes as he fired home from Almiron's cut back into space. Southampton gave themselves some hope as Adams hit a beauty from outside the box just before the half hour mark, but it was in vain as they failed to build on that. The sour note for Newcastle was Bruno Guimaraes getting a late red card meaning he will serve a three game ban, but will be back in time for the final. This will be the first major final for Newcastle since the 1999 FA Cup, and their first trip to the new Wembley, and their first League Cup final since 1976.

Wednesday 1st of February 2023 at the Old Trafford
Manchester United 2-0 Nottingham Forest (First Leg 3-0) - Manchester United advance with a 5-0 victory
Martial, Fred
With a comfortable lead heading into this one, United looked in control throughout the game. United named a strong side and even managed to give Sancho his first run out since October, although it was an uneventful first half which ended with good chances for both Weghorst and Dennis to put their sides ahead on the night. The opener came on 73 minutes as Rashford and Martial combined, with the icing on the cake arriving three minutes later as Bruno crossed for Fred to score into an empty net. The win secures United a place in the final and gives Ten Hag the opportunity to win a first piece of silverware for United since Mourinho won the Europa League in 2017. The victory also means United have now won 12 consecutive games at Old Trafford.

So there we have it, Newcastle will play Manchester United at Wembley on Sunday 26th February 2023 as these two teams look to end their respective trophy droughts. It promises to be a thrilling and exciting encounter between two sides battling it out to be in the top four come the end of the season.
Have a great day.
Peace. CryptoGod-1.
