When I met Upland, immediately I thought that it was the blockchain version of Monopoly. I loved the idea, owning properties and earning money with it.
However, when I started to play I didn't understand a thing. I had the rank Visitant and I received 6000 UPX (estimated value $6) to buy one property. Also I should log in at least once in a week to keep my Upland VISA (cute isn't it?)

But. The small letter. You earn very little UPX daily for that property you own. And honestly, there's no way you can gather 10k UPX by collecting the daily UPX. So you can't get the Uplander rol, and forget about VISA.
I abandoned the game until a friend from AcademiaLibertad community helped me to see what should I do to advance in the game, get Uplander rank, and increase my UPX balance. And then my journey started.
I have to tell you UPX is not exchangeable yet, but this game is building slowly a very solid foundation to become one of the top blockchain games. Right now, without any chances to convert their token, Upland is listed 2nd in Dappradar. Imagine what would happen when people can get their earnings, and massive flow of players coming to buy your cheapily obtained properties. That's why I'm sticking to my properties.

I bought properties for about 800 UPX. It was a miracle, since now unminted/FSA properties cost about 1080 UPX. I claimed collections for those properties since I choose them located in the same street. That way (daily rewards, passive income and collections) I obtained my Uplander rank. And the fun started.
Now I could sell my properties for UPX in the marketplace. Just setting them for a small amount over my investment and of course selling my first property, I got a lot of UPX and completed more collections in Fresno.
Discord community is very helpful and I found someone who made 'property swap' with me. I trade him my properties for his, and I could complete a lot of collections. We split the UPX rewards and that was a nice boost to my earnings.
Up to date I have completed all standard collections in the 3 towns. However, seems like the limited and exclusive collections won't be achievable for me. The prices for these properties are above 28k UPX and there's no way I can achieve that amount.
Now I'm interested in treasures. These are special rewards located in some properties. You have to pay a small fee to visit one property and search the treasure. I found one pinnata once but I'm pretty sure it was random luck.
I remain optimist for the future and believe this game will bring more opportunities for new players.
