By CryptoFinally | CryptoFinally | 26 Aug 2020

What is the difference between Data Protection and Data Privacy?

Data protection refers to keeping your data secured so access by those who are not authorized would be prevented. The owner is the only one that can define/use it. Data protection is a very technical issue. Data privacy on the other hand is about people that have authorized access. Data privacy is an issue of the law while data protection is a technical problem.

These differences are important these days because they are merged with a lot of present issues we face from cybersecurity and cryptocurrency. It even includes culture, businesses, politics at most. When Words used becomes Important

From SNIA, the Storage Networking Industry Association, regulations, and law that covers the management of personal information in the United States are group under Privacy Policy. While in the EU and other places, it is termed Protection Policy.

GDPR(General Data Protection Regulation) of the European Union has an authority that supervises which has been in effect from the 25th of May 2018. These make sure businesses protect the privacy and personal data of the citizens on transactions that are being made within the EU. But still, the data gotten from this law has a very different view of the identification information of people personally than that of the United States.

Security and  Data Privacy: One does not make certain the Other

It is very important to know that as you compare data protection and data privacy, you can’t make certain data is private unless the personal data of the user is protected by technology. If a different individual finds a way to steal that personal data, that privacy cannot in any way be guaranteed. This makes everyone at risk of identity theft and a lot of other security breaches that would affect you personally. But personal data can be protected without being extremely private.

The need to trust Technology

For each of us, we need our data to be protected using technology. All authorized users of tech are responsible and need to protect their data as stationed by the law.

Code of Ethics of OWASP (Open Web Application Security Project) has called on specialists of security to help in maintaining confidentiality appropriately of sensitive and proprietary information that is gotten throughout professional activities.

So back to the question, is Data Privacy a Right? we believe it has to be.
