These days there was BlockShow Asia, an event dedicated to the blockchain industry that represents one of the reference points for the sector; during one of the last panels also Ciprian Pungila, aBey Foundation Co-founder, who presented a novelty that could literally revolutionize the way we are used to using and spending cryptocurrencies. Pungila has indeed presented aPay, a system that will allow the community to spend its cryptocurrencies through the circuits of the main credit cards; therefore there will be no need for an ad hoc card, aPay users can send their cryptocurrencies to the platform and get access to three different credit cards that work with UnionPay, Mastercard and Visa. The news has had great prominence on the sites of sector, however, as we will see later, there are some aspects that are not clear; in any case, from the stage of BlockShow Asia 2019 Pungila stated that:
"ABey is designed and built to be among the fastest and most flexible open source chains in the world, providing a practical solution for common e-commerce use cases"
Tendentially the new functionality presented to the BlockShow would be revolutionary, however, despite having tried to verify how aPay functions I could not understand if it is possible to connect one's cards through the payment processor (which would then convert cryptocurrencies by sending fiat currency to the card) or if instead it is not simply virtual cards, through which you can spend on various e-commerce. It is not a little difference, the possibility of connecting any card (even prepaid) to aPay would mean that users can also make ATM withdrawals, while if the platform simply made virtual cards available this would mean that we could not physically spend our cryptocurrencies in the shops of our city make ATM withdrawals, but only buy online; this type of service, I speak of virtual cards, is already offered by numerous companies for which it would not be anything so revolutionary. Pungila clarified that aPay does not require the merchant to accept cryptocurrencies but simply requires them to accept conventional payments by credit card, it is the payment processor that automatically converts the payment from cryptocurrency to fiat; this however did not solve the doubt I was talking about, the feeling I had, also visited the company website, is that these are trivial virtual cards and that, as such, can only be used online, however I have to correctness to specify that, despite having tried to verify, as mentioned, I was not able to clarify the misunderstanding.
