As we have already had the opportunity to explain the hard fork, Istanbul was an epochal passage for ethereum because it is the first step in a path that will lead the platform to abandon the POW consensus protocol in favor of a POS protocol; everything went as smoothly as oil last Sunday, when the network was called upon to update itself to support Istanbul, the effects of all this were immediately visible both on the market, which reacted with moderate gains, both on the opinion that the community has this platform. The Chinese have also noticed that, in fact, releasing the updated rating of the blockchain projects, they have made the platform created by Vitalik Buterin a position, bringing it back to the podium in second place; the highest step, however, was awarded to EOS (grappling with grid congestion problems) while in the special classification of the Chinese Center for Information and Industry Development (CCID) the third step of the podium went to TRON (passed just from ethereum).

Bitcoin also comes up, finally, which falls into the top ten, even if only in ninth place, but which cannot say ripple that slips into eighteenth position, far from the top ten. Good instead LISK and NEO, placed respectively in fourth and fifth position, as well as Stellar and Waves who win respectively the tenth and the twelfth position. On the other hand, Decred and Litecoin, respectively penultimate and fourth last, as well as the trio composed of bitcoin cash, verge and ADA Cardano, which are placed one behind the other between the 28th and 30th place; the wooden spoon is in any case the responsibility of IOTA, a project that has had wide media coverage in our country, evidently more of a skilled marketing maneuver than of quality. Despite the fact that the CCID ranking is often disputed due to the results it produces, it is still a useful tool for finding one's way around and trying to understand how the various projects are growing; however you want to think of it, China remains one of the main leaders, if not the leader, at a global level of this market and it is always interesting to observe how the ranking of the different cryptocurrencies changes as the projects grow and evolve.
