Among the many new features in the background, Apple has also unveiled the new CryptoKit framework that will allow developers to create cryptographic operations directly in their apps.

At the moment it is still too early to say if Apple is working on its own cryptocurrency project as a digital currency that would work on all its services and devices, but it seems that iPhone and iPad will soon be able to act as portfolios for Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

As confirmed on the portal dedicated to developers, CryptoKit will support the "common cryptographic operations" which can then be integrated into third-party apps. This will allow developers to use public key cryptography to create and validate digital signatures and to perform key exchange. In addition to working with the stored keys, the apps can also use private keys stored and managed by the Secure Enclave.

Obviously, this framework can be exploited for different implementations, but among these figure also that of the safe and advanced management of cryptocurrencies on the iPhone. Not surprisingly, Apple has also included the Bitcoin icon among the tools available to developers.

In practice, developers can use CryptoKit to turn iPhone and Mac into secure cryptocurrency wallets.
