Subsocial Blockchain: Are We Dead Yet?

By Novasky | DevPress | 7 Feb 2025

It starts in the January that Subsocial chains whales and the top stakers started taking stakes out. One after another known and unknown Polkadot stakers who happened to be invested into the subsocial decided to take the funds out. And they started selling the same in the DEX and the MEXC. This triggers a bit even on the MEXC which made them reach no liquidity issue eventually.

Now that people are jumping ship even the spammers and the multiple account leachers started pulling out too. And that triggered another event which leads to the major price drop. And this leads to the token prices are going out from here onwards as well.

Total performance of the token flatlined. The owners of the blockchain don't care. If you ask them what are you doing for the growth of the chain and what are your future plans. The guy acts like kid in highschool and asks back you are also on blockchain what are you doing for growth of the chain. The guy who owns the chain made zero attempt at getting rid of spammers.

Instead this week he reduced the ability for the authors to earn payout. So say you upvote aka like over there and say your vote would bring the content creator 0.50 value like now it is reduced down to 0.20. And so now creators would grind so hard that reaching 1000 SUB would be extremely hard.

What could be solution? Bring stakers back so there would be enough value for token so that the staked likes would have some values back. And this would means that there would be growth for the token too. So that would eventually add up some return value as well. But that would not happen as stakers have no incentive to come back and invest into this.

So more you try to tell the owner of the chain about growth, he'd take it casually as if autism has reached peak value. He would take things so lightly that even hiroshima event would not put him in emergency mode. Usually most of the content blockchain and the websites give you option to earn and you are supposed to earn it and go away. If you become elite enough to dictate like star writer then good for you but usually all writing projects die and so be heavy selfish on earning instead of trying to play family.

I learned such lessons over and over and so during the downfall of the Subsocial I felt no difference. I took out funds regularly so the investment of time didnt hurt much.

Are we dead yet Subsocial? Most probably. Now the value is only traffic and the backlink. Rest is just dying down.
