If you are into video content creation, you must have seen the struggle of monetization. Facebook takes a lot out of you for free. YouTube is pretty strong on the censorship and TikTok puts you under control of China. All of these options for content creators are kind of like walking over thin ice. Though they can pay you good if your content takes off. Till then it's purely dependency on those platform.
Hive developers have made a progress on this point. There is this video hosting network being launched named - SPK Network. This network has multiple tokens which can be used for the monetization. The tokens are basically second layer of the Hive. If everything goes correctly as per roadmap it can open up a new option for monetization for you.
SPK makes use of the Video, Storage and Delivery all of it into one platform. Which makes it easier for the decentralized node operators to handle which was previously not possible on Hive as the content other than text was hosted off the chain and was easier to take off if things go south.
What to expect from SPK?
You can upload the content as usual. It'd also be streamed quickly and also get the network rewards just like you want. The tokens can be traded internally in the SPK back-end without having to worry about where to swap etc.
If you are a video content creator, think of the SPK as an alternative to put your views which could get blocked by the YouTube, Facebook and other network which can be pure on the censorship.
If you are already familiar with Hive and it's rewards and want to spread your monetization across multiple platforms then there won't be much of an issue and transition to yet another platform for monetizing your content won't be hard.
I am keeping tab on the SPKNetwork's regular updates and also having some good expectations from this platform. If things work out right I can think of posting content on this network which would help monetize my videos which don't get much from the YouTube.
