Luna's chaotic drama was just about to settle and get market back on track, there comes the Solana Wallet hack. It seems like the people who are building the blockchain are also the people who are likely to exploit it. And Luna and Solana's hack kind of confirm that theory. Then again we just stay open and optimistic about the things in general.
So what exactly happened to Solana? And what sort of attack it was? And how much impact it had on the price and the user wallets? Let's talk about this.
Most of the accounts which are affected in this incident are specific to the Phantom Wallet and DeFi and also the MagicEdgen. It seems like this was planned and pre calculated attack. So the attacker seems like someone who already knew about the systems and the patterns. So far the 6 million worth of the leak is already detected.
Some of the blockchain security accounts on twitter are pointing to how the system got compromised and the private keys were exposed. So on that note some of the people are literally victim as in those who used the wallets to connect for NFT or any other reasons to another 3rd party services. That kind of opened the door for the exploit.
Time to disconnect your Solana wallet with any 3rd party service out there.
This is an example of how the blockchain's web3 is not ready yet phase. Because most of the people who want decentralization don't want such open exploits on the tools. So the verification, logins and the authorization type of the stuff needs to be properly handled otherwise such hacks would continue to happen as well.
This may affect Solana's growth and also the price for time being. Till things are addressed and fixed, it'd be best to avoid any coin purchase.
