Solana implemented the x402 protocol the moment it was brought up. Like agent based payments and the payments in the crypto space were kind of standardize through the protocol. And that kind of made the need for the foundation. And it was developed with some of the companies jumping in the same. 

Open source protocol like this was meant to go to the Linux foundation for it's home and it is now being hosted there. 

A lot of high class members are now part of the foundation. And this would be a good direction for the new projects, wallets and the payment interface to make use of this protocol and it would be something to build over there as well. Its going to be a fun experiment to see how the development goes ahead there.
