Solana is being aggressive in the fields of the payment gateway. They tried many other sectors like real estate with RWAs and other sectors. But payment gateway is where their core competence is there. So they have decided to double up the payments and the fintech areas. 

So far they have done $2 trillion in quarterly stablecoin transfers and $300M+ in monthly payments as per their tweet. And this is not done yet x402 protocol based payments are on the rise too. 

A lot of payment companies like Paypal and others are also slowly moving to the Solana. PYUSD which is paypals venture is already in the Solana since last year. Stripe, western union are already there. Most of the top 10 stablecoins being on Solana, they are increasing the amount of payments in the system. The settlements happen 24/7 and growth has been steady so far. 

Remittance companies and the payouts through merchant terminals are going to make sense there. Some really something we have to consider for the long term. In this whole saga they launched official Solana payments and the payments.org website domain is also active now.
