Immutable Passport - Web3 Wallet meets Authenticator

By Novasky | DevPress | 6 Mar 2023

Immutable X started off as a platform which was meant to reduce the cost of the transaction for the Gods Unchained. Later it developed into the scaling solution for all games outside and it'd allow the NFT marketplace for low cost transactions. It seems like a good platform for anyone who wants to scale their NFTs.

Recently Team behind the immutable built a product called passport, which would allow the users to use it as a wallet and login authenticator. This could be future of the web3 user management.

This passport has a non custodian wallet. So this could be a good choice for many gamers and the developers who want to use it for saving money on the transactions. Another thing to watch out is the onboarding part where a lot of people who buy the nfts and pay for the in-game items would be making use of the passport for the use cases in the games and metaverses.

Another use case is the authenticator. So let's say you have this webapp where you want to make use of the login approach for crypto users. This authenticator can be single source option for login into the webapp. Here it makes use of the simple email and password and avoids all the complexity of the crypto seeds and phrases here.

Such solutions benefit both the developers and the gamers. And in turn makes the crypto world more useful in terms of the access and the control for the asset which we are dealing with. In that context I'd say that this is a good platform worth exploring.
