Metaverse started as a virtual world for games then it expanded to marketplace and now it is coming out with various simulation specific solutions around the world. It's not limited to blockchains anymore. In past the virtual reality context was there long before blockchain but nobody thought about the metaverse experience. However recently Hongkong's university thought about this and decided to put the new generation into it.
Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) launched a course which is going to be experienced through virtual reality. This September 1st the new course is about to take place in the Metaverse and would be offering the experience of the lessons through this metaverse. They made the announcement here.

What does it help with?
I think metaverse based classrooms have power to bypass the borders. It can also reduce the time it is taken for repeatition of the class, one recording can last years. And even some of the time spent for the lectures can be reduced. Also the interaction based topics can be understood and felt lot easier for the learning.
The course would also focus on the tokens, NFTs and other metaverse experience. So there is a lot to explore and some of the time such experience is going to help with various types of the campus things being included in it. So this being a first year there would be some flaws but as they mature over the years things would surely improve as well.
World is changing, we have virtiual reality, metaverses, blockchain and soon with EV bikes and cars, we are already in the SciFi world, a bit more. But we have yet to solve some of the world's basic problems and hopefully we do as we educate ourselves more.
What do you think? Is this a good step in the right direction?
