When it comes to life you would always find one rule : build first, make it work then make it fast. Same applies to every little thing in the tech. And this also means the blockchain. We had all types of the blockchain and their protocols. But what was missing was handling the scale, and then making it faster.
So a protocol was made to query almost every blockchain out there and make things faster to index and search through the transactional data. So the graph protocol was made and then indexing and querying blockchain data approach was made.
So what does this protocol does? Subgraph makes it easier and faster for you to query the blockchain data and index them. In case of it's substream protocol data would become faster to access in live blockchain. It covers majority of the Ethereum, Solana and many other blockchains. So the major networks are covered here upto 90 L2 chains.
If you are into development and heard about graphQL then you would understand subgraph better. You can check out graphQL yoga setup on Windows to know how all of this works.
All of this is a good direction for the blockchain developers. So this post basically would help the developers discover new things. Kind of like developers are being used to old solutions and this would be speeding them up for the development and query based programs. And LLMs would make it run even more faster.
Let's see where Graph protocol goes and how many chains benefit from it. You can check out the graph protocol here.
