DeSo is one of those social networks which have a lot of VC pump. The site has plenty of developers all want the deso coin to become BTC. Which is a bad attitude. not every coin becomes BTC and ETH. And you have to differentiate your own self with the tokens and also the marketing. But deso people just create and forget and dont pay attention to building community. 

They created FOCUS recently and now things are changing. Most of the tipping and other features that you want from the social network are there and they seem to be doing pretty good with those features. But they need community and different posts with normal people posting other than crypto. 

It's a good attempt and if you want earn out of the voted posts and the tips then definitely worth signing up at the FOCUS. In short it is going to be pretty much fun with the people joining it and then pushing the token it can be good for the creators to sign up and earn out of the tips. 

My approach is to use the social network like this to spread my content around and also get some sort of connections and following. If that earns me tips? good. if not well we have to keep moving ahead as it is. That's the plan for most of the content creators.
