If you were born between 1985 to 1995, then I am sure you must have experienced the life of slow in your teens all the way to the 30s. I am sure you must have struggled to keep your passions alive. Yes, I am one of from that generation who struggled to keep art hobby and the passions alive. It was really hard to get the income out of what you love.
Imagine in 1980s, 90s and upto 2005, there was no way anyone could randomly blog about whatever they want and get paid. Then slowly Google Adsense started help change that narrative. Slowly the blogs were monetized and then content farms were built.
That was the start of the Creator Economy.
Rolling the time reel forward, there was YouTube which was one of the first creator focused monetized option for video content. Prior to this only text was monetized. Later the Steemit, Hive, Pub0x and Noise/Read like platforms started to flourish.
Say What's In Your Mind, Monetize It
Imagine nobody cared the world would have automated cars in the time of 1980s. People used to mock Sci-Fi movies and the futurist thinking where a lot of things started off imagination but turned out to be true later. Which also includes Metaverse, gaming, mobile phones. Now a days you can literally blog about boobs and make up and get monetized on Instagram, YouTube or any other creator platform.
If you can bring people to like you, then there are advertisers out there are ready to monetize you. You may find that there are tons of podcasts out there. Where lonely people or people who need attention or want to build their personality online are out there to monetize that voice. If you can talk hours about it, then open a place where people can reach you and then monetize that content.
You're not Ugly, You Need People to Appreciate Content
Imagine if you call your wife ugly for like 4 days straight, expect in some months, you are going to meet your lawyers. Now imagine if you start recording calling your wife ugly and then make it look funny it can earn you money. Imagine you making fun of your friends or they making fun of you by scripted incidence is now called a content and is being appreciated by the youth.
People who are mature can see through the scripted content. But there are people appreciate such content because they create cult around such type of the content. All you need is a content. You need initial 100 or 1000 followers and from there the life moves you ahead with the help of the efforts that you take as well.
Quality, Consistency and Value Wins in Future
A lot of fake and scripted content creators are saturating the video content out there. YouTube is loaded with fake influencers, advisors and prank artists doing everything scripted. And in grand scheme of things there does not seem to be any value for those who do intentional content which is bland and is forced on the viewers.
Blockchain is going to turn this around by adding the quality, value and also the consistency in the due process. This is where the creators have to focus on adding the value to the chain and their own content in general. There is a strong future for those who create content which public is going to value based on how recurring they come back for it.
Blockchain would make the content permanent on the web. And it's decentralization makes monetizing the controlled content a lot more easy. Also the creator would be able to use his content for years while accepting the rewards for the same.
Monetizing the passion should not be a burden anymore. You don't need permission of parents, society anymore.
If you can follow your passion, document it on the side while you work with other areas of life, that is more than enough.
I feel creator economy can be a good source of income for anyone who is getting old and reaching towards retirement.
Come out, society is changed, show them your skills, content, value, they will reward you.
You may not get rich without Luck and Effort, but atleast you may not die in regret saying, I wish I could have got my stuff out.
