It required me to use the free CREA to create an account. Which I used from the sign up bonus they offered in that period. But in near future expect they charging for the signup. You can use these exchanges for the purchase of tokens for sign up. 

How good is the community?

You are among the creators who are proficient in art. So you have to be pretty niche and the strong with your skill to reach the trending and the popularity on the site. So make sure your art has quality or something you can share publicly. Usually most of the artists which can't monetized their rejected work or in progress work post it there. 

Is it worth posting art samples there?

Diversify. We don't know how future is going to be with or without crypto. Having internet presence on social media and letting people follow you, fund you for art is always a good idea.
