COS TV - Video Creators Blockchain for Video Monetization

By Novasky | DevPress | 5 Nov 2020

Video is the future on the internet. And blockchains around the world are working hard to compete with YouTube for video monetization. One such new video content monetization blockchain is Content OS.

There are plenty of blockchains out there which are already rewarding users for the content. So why the COS? Why content OS? Good questions. Unlike other blockchain, here you are not limited to work with it's own coins. You can earn the COS and then withdraw the amount in the ETH, BTC etc. Something like this is not even done by any other blockchain.

There are many other blockchains like LBRY, HIVE, STEEM, DTube out there already, why content OS?

These blockchains are limited to their own currencies and are subject to the market fluctuation. But the COS goes one step ahead of this. And allows the users to withdraw the content to the ETH, BTC etc. So you are in more of control of how much you earn and not lose trying to convert from one coin to another.

How does it work?

You post your video content and earn based on votes and views. You also earn POP which can be used for other activities across the platform. You will also find out that the platform allows you to upload opinion which otherwise can get you removed from other platforms. Still I am unsure about this part considering, I have only noticed platforms are mostly left-wing on internet. So unless we can see it accepts right-wing opinion, we can't truly say if it's pure freedom of speech.

How to earn COS?

You earn COS by uploading videos and then interacting with other creators. Depending on the amount of votes and the activity that you generate, you earn the COS. You can also buy the COS through binance. Something I don't see any strong reason to do so.

What about withdrawal?

Tricky stuff. They require you to show verification ID and selfie. Once you do that KYC part, they enable withdrawal into other currencies for you.

Is it worth to post content here?

It is too early to say if it's worth or not. My approach always is about diversifying the creator efforts and making the videos part of the brand. So I took the respective risk along the way. You may find or may not find value based on your efforts. So just spread the baskets around all platforms and make crypto work for you in whichever way it works for you.

I personally think such platforms are only worth it for diversification and I don't personally hold any fanboyish view towards them.
