Axie has been going down in popularity lately. A lot of people tried to use it for the financial independence, some partially succeeded and then it suddenly went down. The reason being Ethereum was expensive for the low budget players for the on-boarding. And the scholarship was not sustainable model for the Axie long term as market has different plans.
This time Axie team decided to innovate and make changes to their games so that they can build something that would bring in more cashflow and also the bring in new players. They released - Raylights. It's a game where the land can be owned, used for farming and sell assets in marketplace.
Axie has their own newsletter on Substack where they even made the announcement for the final release of the Raylights. And you can read in more depth about how the new update works.
What's new with Raylights?
Here are some of the new things that you would find.
1. Game has 10 different minerals.
2. Minerals are bought by the gamers.
3. Then these minerals are grown over the land.
4. Axies can be assigned to grow the plant.
5. Later these plants can be moved to the land under control.
For now there does not seem to be financial benefits associated with this process. But the way teams explained this would work in future, it can be part of the metaverse of axie's and may contain something valuable and useful for the marketplace. For now it's just the process so go ahead and enjoy the same.
