The Dream That Keeps You Focused When the Market Is Noisy

I'm about to say something obvious, but for some reason, it works.

A person needs a long-term dream. The kind that's just beyond the horizon. The kind you can't reach today. And precisely because of that, it gives you meaning.

I didn't learn this from books.

Ten years ago, when I was living in Estonia, I had this feeling: everything had settled down. Business was good. Ambitions were fulfilled. I could just live and enjoy life.
And right then, a strange inner feeling appeared – "this isn't the end."

Ten years passed.
I live in a different country now. I'm in a completely different field. Doing things I hadn't even thought about back then.

And for a couple of years after the move, I again found myself in that state: "Well, what more could I want? Everything is great already."
It's a dangerous state. Because without a vector, you start drifting along on inertia.

Now, I understand what I want.

I want to build my own house.

Not buy one. Not invest in real estate. But to actually build it.
That's the key distinction.

Building is a project. It's creation. It's when you're designing not just square meters, but the space of your life.

I see it in the mountains. A small house.
High ceilings, with a double-height space. A wood-burning fireplace.
A garden with fruit trees that I can tend to myself.
A wood-fired sauna. A cold plunge pool or a swimming pool.
A BBQ area.
A place where my children will come to visit. And later, maybe, grandchildren.

This isn't about status. It's about roots.

I once bought a house – then sold it.
I tried to start building in Saint Petersburg – but we moved away.
It's as if this project kept getting postponed. But the need remained.

And you know what's important?

I don't want to do it right now.

Now is the phase for capital.
The phase for strengthening my position.
The phase for systems, cash flow, stability.

The house is the next level.
And I'm in no hurry. Let it remain that distant point on the map.

Interestingly, along with this image, another thought appears – technology.
Maybe in a few years, I'll have my own robot assistant, like a Tesla Optimus, helping out around the house, with the exterior, with chores.

Sounds like science fiction?
Ten years ago, my current life would have sounded like science fiction too.

Why am I saying all this?

When you have a big, slightly unattainable goal:

  • You endure downturns more easily

  • You take volatility more calmly

  • You see money differently

Money stops being an end in itself.
It becomes a tool for building your envisioned future.

The market is cyclical. Phases change.
But a dream is an anchor that holds you steady in your strategy when there's chaos all around.

And if right now "everything is pretty good" – that doesn't mean this is the final destination.
Sometimes, that inner voice is right)

Do you have that one big, distant dream, the one you're building your capital for?
