On the path to wealth, people look for guidance. Examples of rich people's behavior to guide them. They read biographies of outstanding people on this topic.
But here it is necessary to realize that the rich not only cry too, but also go astray!!! For example, I was told such a story: "A rich man went to the market and wanted to buy a chicken. It was sold for 5$, but he wanted to buy it for 3.5$ at any cost, out of economy. He went around and haggled with everyone. In two hours he reached his goal. They must have taken pity on him and sold this poor chicken at a discount.
Someone who hears this story from the outside might say, "That's why he's rich, he counts every cent. We should act like him." There are tons of similar stories in the biographies of rich people. How the creator of Ikea, the richest man on the planet, saved money on everything, even on hotel accommodation and chose the cheapest. How Henry Ford wore the clothes he wore and saved money too..... And supposedly this is the secret of their success.
This is nonsense!!! The rich man who spent two hours haggling for a chicken at the market (what was he even doing there at the market???) actually lost a lot of money on this action. His one hour of work was probably measured in thousands of dollars, while he "won" $1.50. The cost of your hour of time is included(!!!) in such "winnings". And the income here is negative.
Saving on hotel accommodation, using the example of the creator of Ikea or Henry Ford, can only justify themselves by saying that this is how they created an aura of frugality for their employees. They played the game, be like me, save money on everything. There are no other excuses. What's the need for wealth then? Who are the 5 star hotels built for? Where does a person collect money if they can't spend it on comfortable accommodation?
One has to compare the value of your time and your spending. An executive of a company making millions of dollars can't subject himself to the nuances of staying in cheap hotels.
This post isn't about splurging on everything. It's okay to spend as much as you want as long as it's less than what you've earned and prudently set aside in an investment account.
The behavior of some rich people cannot be taken as a basis, they may have other principles, other goals. What you can learn from the really rich people is the desire for patronage of the arts. Directing money to public projects. So I sat in the bathhouse and listened to people talk. How they, almost with anger, discussed the entrepreneur who is building a park with his own money. They wanted with all their souls to condemn him for his wealth, but his act to build a park did not let their puzzle come together, they could not criticize him for it and truly did not understand why he spends money so? Here they would have thrown a feast for the world in his place.
Treat stories of rich people's behavior with common sense. Not all behavior should be copied.
