You may have often heard phrases like:
"Listen to others, but form your own opinion" or "Listen to bloggers, but think with your own head."
But let's dig deeper.: is it even possible to have an opinion?
In my opinion, no. Because to simplify to the point, there are always two polar positions on any issue. Either one or the other.
Let's look at some examples.:
• The earth is either round or flat. Most people think it's round, and there's scientific evidence. But there are people who believe in a flat Earth.
• Bitcoin is either a new financial system that will change the world, or it will reset to zero.
• In a relationship: either it is better to have one partner for a long distance, or to live without attachment and change partners.
• Offspring: many have children and consider them the meaning of life, others are categorically against (child free movement)
• The US crypto reserve: it should contain only bitcoin or a multi-currency portfolio with alts.
• Alcohol: either it is a poison that destroys the body and soul, or it is useful in moderate doses and helps to relax.
• Trading: either the majority merges, and the minority earns, or it doesn't work and it's all a casino.
• Memcoin market: Either this is a speculative bubble or a way to make x100.
• Bitcoin: either we are heading towards $200K, or the peak has already been passed, and a hard dump awaits us.
• AI: Either it will save the world and take humanity to a new level, or it will destroy us.
• Climate change: Either it is caused by humans and leads to disaster, or it is a conspiracy theory.
How does thinking work?
As soon as we come across a question, we unconsciously choose one of the sides and then just look for confirmation of our correctness.
If the information confirms our beliefs, we accept it.
If it contradicts, we devalue it, reject it, and attack it.
And we need time to change our point of view.
We need to gather enough facts in favor of the other position, digest them, and only then, perhaps, will we switch sides.
How does this relate to Bitcoin?
Many people don't believe in Bitcoin right now. They think it's a temporary fashion, a bubble that will deflate like thousands of projects before it.
But the more facts that confirm its power, the more people will start to switch sides. It's just a matter of time.
Conclusion
There can be no "your" or "my" opinion. We're just collecting information, taking sides, and looking for confirmation of our position.
Do you agree or disagree? Why?
