NFTs are already an important domain into the digital world and crypto. Many artists and NFT creators started to earn while creating NFT collections and different pieces of art (or not necessary artwork). As the NFT domain started to become more and more visible, I’ve created my own accounts on two platforms, namely Mintable and OpenSea. I’ve tried to create NFTs using some of my nature photos, but without success. So I’ve decided that it is not the moment to take this road, since I still have to learn more about NFTs and how to create more attractive NFTs.
On the other hand, I was curious if there are some NFT platforms or marketplaces for content writers. As content writer and blogger for more than 7 years, I was asking if writing may be transformed into NFT, since writing is one of the methods to express creativity. Accordingly, I’ve started to look out and I’ve discovered that are some platforms where content writers and authors could transform their writings into NFTs or could sell writing as NFTs. Let’s discover these platforms.
In Writing
One of the platforms where you can write, own and sell texts as NFTs is In Writing. According to their website, this platform is the Web3’s premiere NFT marketplace for text. The platform describes as being the place where any text can be minted, whether is a poem, a funny tweet or censored articles. The NFTs belong to the authors. According to In Writing, content writers could start investing for free on this platform dedicated to text as NFTs.
As you go through the webpage of this project, you find out that minting NFTs is not actually free. Only when your start with the first text, you can mint it for free. You need to connect using Metamask wallet and then you need to have MATIC in order to mint, buy or sell NFTs on this platform. MATIC is more attractive than ETH for example due to low fees, so users can create more NFTs at low costs. However, I haven’t used this platform yet, since I’ve just discovered it, but I will try to use and create some NFT texts, to see how it works and to see if I can create my own texts as NFTs.
Creatokia.com
Another platform that I’ve found to be available for content writers, writers and authors is Creatokia. This platform intends to provide a digital home for those who intend to create fantasy worlds using words. Authors, publishers and collectors may use this platform, according to the Creatokia.com website. On the platform publishers, authors and creators could upload their content.
Users can mint Creatokens, which are a limited edition of NFTs providing access to a literary metaverse and the possibility to unlock various benefits and exclusive community. In order to mint NFTs users should have ETH and a crypto wallet. On the other hand, if you want to collect or to buy NFTs at Creatokia, you may use standard or FIAT currency.
At Creatokia.com you may choose how you want to participate. You may choose to be a book lover as a reader, you can choose to be an author or content creator, and lastly, you may have the role of a publisher if you want to publish audiobooks. This web platforms seems quite interesting and there some NFTs available on the marketplace on this platform.
BookVolts
A NFT platform dedicated for authors is BookVolts. This platform offers the opportunity to use the NFT technology to transform books into digital assets and sale the NFT books while earning 80% of every sale. According to the BookVolts platform, authors may use different packages in order to create their work and upload it onto the platform.
The major benefits of this platform is that authors may have access to a marketplace for their books and the chance to transform books into NFTs, a fair earning, various publishing options and the possibility to engage with their fans. Moreover, authors can have also the alternative to print their NFT books by creating a personalized digital NFT book.
In order to publish a book using this platform, authors should fill a 2-minutes questionnaire. Based on the questionnaire, the author will have a call with the BookVolts team. Then authors should define the NFT book and how many editions of the book will be. The third step is the creation process, meaning that the NFT book will be minted. After that it will be published onto marketplaces and uploaded as readable content on the reader app.
The next step is to communicate the launch of the book among the fans and among the literature network. Since the books published as NFTs on BookVolts platform are available on a web-based reader app, any book will be available as NFT only for the owner of that NFT. For the authors this platform could be quite attractive.
Bookchain
Another platform for books authors is Bookchain. This platform can be used by authors to transform their writings into NFTs. Publishers can also use this platform in order to benefit from the blockchain advantages. The major benefits of this platform include aspects like the access to NFT technology, the protection of the intellectual property, distribution of eBooks among the readers and the availability of eBooks on any device.
While using Bookchain writers, authors and content creators are able to protect their rights regarding their work. Also, they can decide the ways to share their work into the world. On the other hand, publishers are able to manage very easy the distribution, attribution and traceability for every book.
For those who are interested to publish on Bookchain, there are few steps to follow. First is needed an account. The second step is to upload and manage a book (at this moment the website supports only epub files). Users can have access to analytics regarding the operations, transactions and sales regarding their books. The third step is to set up a smart contract. This step is based on an intuitive smart contract template and users can personalize its settings regarding publishing and distribution. This means that you can set the price, the number of available copies, royalties or the resale permissions.
The next step is to share the work since the book is added on the blockchain. Any book published will be available on the Bookchain catalogue. Authors receive their link that may be shared on any social media platform and also on their personal website. Starting from here, anyone can buy the book while using the Bookchain catalogue.
Mirror.xyz
The last platform for writers that I want to present in this article is Mirror.xyz. Content writers may post their articles, earn money and crowd fund for their personal projects. It is a platform that may be compared with Medium, one of the best known platforms for content writing. The difference is that Mirror.xyz is a web3 applications built on the Ethereum blockchain. This means that earning money is actually earning cryptocurrency for the writers.
Those who collect articles receive NFTs. An important aspect to mention here is that publishing is 100% free. Another great plus for this platform for writers is that is described as “decentralized”. This means that creators can publish here and connect with their audiences in a direct way.
There are several benefits brought by Mirror platform. First is that content creators could publish for free onto this platform. Secondly, if you sold the article as NFT, the platform will take a very small percent of the transactions, meaning that the author will keep more than 97% of profits. Another important benefit is that writers are the owner of their content. Another great advantage is that writers can have access to their fans’ data, meaning that writers can keep their fans. Since on this platform writers know exactly who the contributors to their projects are, they can communicate with them while using any other Ethereum platforms.
In order to connect to Mirror.xyz platform and create your articles, you need only a Metamask wallet. You may connect using the Metamask wallet and then start creating your articles. You will be able to edit your profile before creating the first entry. Even if publishing on the Mirror.xyz is free, in order to mint the articles as NFTs and to sold them as NFTs, you will need ETH in the Metamask wallet. This is needed in order to pay the gas fees. But if your articles are very valuable and can be seen as interesting by readers, you may sell them as NFTs.
At the moment of writing this post I have an account only on Mirror.xyz platform, since my time doesn’t allow me to publish on such a large number of platforms. I’m publishing on my personal blog, I’m publishing here on Publish0x and also I have various projects as content writer. But I hope to organize better and explore the options to transform my words into NFTs.
Conclude remarks
These are the platforms that I’ve found to be ready to be used by content writers and authors in order to transform their words into NFTs. Part of them are more attractive by content writers willing to publish articles, while some of them are more attractive for book authors and publishers. But at the end of the day many content writers are authors too and many authors are also content writers. Finally, these web platforms are available for content writers and authors that may earn by transforming their work into NFTs.
