We see this question being asked by the a large portion of Crypto hodlers, accredited investors and TV hosts alike – 'Are there too many coins or tokens and will their creation ever stop'.
Here I wanted to share my perspective on this and that is that actually I believe not, why are there too many and why should there be a maximum number.
Partly my reasoning for this - take the top 15 countries per GDP, combined they have 180 million companies, yes that’s right a colossal 180 million companies, 190 million worldwide!. Now I’m sure that the vast majority of these are successful and will continue to be so. This is where I see reasoning for my perspective, Imagine if all of these businesses decide to create a crypto currency and an associated Eco-system. If the coin was created with a purpose to increase the coin or token value on the open market then of course there needs to be a compelling reason to buy the token and actually my views sway here because we could find the market becoming diluted however, this may not be the driving force behind creating a token. Stable coins are a good example as these are not created to generate revenue directly from increased value.

To conclude I feel there could be hundreds of millions of coins and tokens however, that doesn’t mean that they all need to generate revenue via the public nor be treated like a fully-fledged crypto/blockchain businesses so does it matter about how many tokens there really are, I say no.
On a side note - Those of you who are looking to research every project out there to potentially find that hidden gem just be sure you have a solid risk management strategy and research plan. Be safe out there.
