I Stopped Chasing 100x Crypto Coins. Here’s What I’m Watching Now

It used to be my belief that the smartest person in crypto was the next 100x coin finder.

You know the type.

To them, it's always about the next big thing.

The next Solana.

The next Bitcoin.

The next unheard-of coin.

And honestly?

It was an exciting thing for me to do.

The small $0.01 to $1 coin is much more interesting to watch than the Bitcoin few percent movement.

However, I have been having some different thoughts lately.

I don't believe that the most interesting aspect of crypto is next coin that is going to 100x.

I think it might be something much less exciting.

Infrastructure.

That's come to mean that my viewing habits have changed

Crypto is starting to look less like gambling

Take a look at what is going on around the industry.

Stablecoins are increasingly playing a larger role in the payments dialogue.

Financial institutions are testing out tokenized assets.

Businesses are creating crypto payment systems.

Governments are talking digital currencies and cross-border settlement.

For instance, India is encouraging talks on tying up the central-bank digital currencies of BRICS, which will ease cross-border transactions.

In the meantime, tokenization is progressing beyond PowerPoint presentations.

CoinDesk recently reported that India is starting to tokenize a $620 billion corporate bond market using digital-rupee settlement.

Don't forget that for a moment.

The use of cryptocurrencies was initially the debate concerning:

“Which coin do you think I should purchase?”

Now some of the bigger conversations are becoming:

How to transfer financial assets to blockchain infrastructure?

That's a very different matter.

So what am I watching now?

Not all new meme coins are created equal.

Not all influencers' “secrets of the gem.”

Not all tokens guaranteeing 1,000% returns.

I'm keeping a close eye on three.

1. Stablecoins

Stablecoins may be one of the least interesting and engaging cryptocurrency topics for retail traders.

Nothing is boring unless it is not important.

The stablecoin space is growing and businesses are developing payment and payout solutions around digital money. In the last few weeks, the industry has been focusing on the growth of stablecoin payment activity and infrastructure.

This is what I am curious about.

Not necessarily the token price.

All the things that people can do with it.

2. Tokenization

This one could become much bigger than many people realize.

Stocks.

Bonds.

Funds.

Treasuries.

Real-world assets.

Instead of simply creating another cryptocurrency, blockchain technology can potentially change how existing financial assets are issued, transferred and settled.

And when traditional finance starts experimenting with blockchain, I pay attention.

Not because banks suddenly became “crypto believers.”

But because they are looking for cheaper, faster and more programmable financial infrastructure.

That's a much stronger use case than:

“This coin has a cool logo.”

3. Bitcoin's role

Bitcoin is still the elephant in the room.

And right now, the market is not exactly calm.

Bitcoin has been trading around the $77,000 area after recently being closer to $78,000, with investors watching the upcoming Federal Reserve meeting as a potential market catalyst.

But I've stopped trying to predict every Bitcoin candle.

Because nobody knows.

One day the chart looks bullish.

The next day macroeconomic news changes everything.

Then a whale moves some Bitcoin and suddenly Twitter has 47 different explanations.

😂

Instead, I ask a simpler question:

Is the underlying ecosystem becoming stronger?

That's the question I find more useful.

The biggest mistake I made

What I didn't realize was that I purchased the incorrect coin.

It thought that there was no difference between price and progress.

A 50% increase in the value of a token doesn't automatically imply that the technology had been improved 50%.

But a token with a 30% drop does not necessarily imply that the entire concept is doomed.

This is made even more challenging if you are using Crypto, since all of it is reduced to a chart.

Green candle = genius.

Red candle = scam.

However, actual adoption doesn't always proceed at a rapid pace.

Infrastructure takes time.

Regulation takes time.

It takes time for people to change their financial habits.

I'm still bullish on crypto , just differently

I haven't become anti-crypto.

In fact, it is quite the contrary.

I'm getting more interested in crypto, as I'm getting less interested in speculating.

I want to see:

real users
real payments
real businesses
real financial products
real settlement
real infrastructure

Yes, there will undoubtedly be stupid meme coins, too.

There will continue to be 100x stories.

There will still be some who are making million overnight.

Then there will be those losing money overnight, too.

That's crypto.

But right under that racket, there's something else going on.

Blockchain is gradually transitioning from investment story to infrastructure.

That's something that I think is the thing that people do not want to do with crypto that they regret.

What I'm watching next 👀

Bitcoin.

Stablecoins.

Tokenized assets.

Crypto payments.

Particularly, where traditional finance meets blockchain.

Maybe the next big crypto opportunity isn't at all a crypto-currency.

Perhaps it will be something we are already using on a daily basis.

And that is why I'm keeping the eye on him.

So what do you watch these days: Bitcoin, Ethereum, stablecoins, AI + crypto or something else?

Place it in the comments!

So I wonder if I am the only one that has given up on the next 100x coin? 👇

Crypto Stuff Im Trying to Learn

I still have a lot to learn about cryptocurrencies because I've only recently started. On my blog, I share my learnings on everything from wallets and coins to seemingly strange subjects that make sense after a few tries. It's not advice; it's just my honest observations as I try to understand how this whole thing works. And perhaps profit from exchanging meme coins along this entire process.
