Hello and welcome to a new blog.
I've named it Crypto Rap Lyrics because I write about crypto, but I also like rap music.
Many, many, many years ago - way before all of this started - I actually began writing rap lyrics. For fun.
So I thought it would be fun to combine these two things.
How does it work? So basically every week (hopefully more than once a week), I'll pick a song I like (usually rap music) and rewrite the lyrics - on the same melody - using this week's news as inspiration.
I've already talked about the FTX fiasco using Eminem's Lose Yourself as a base, Celebrity NFTs using Love Me by Drake, Crypto.com's business model using P.I.M.P by 50 Cent & Snopp Dogg, and the BlockFi disaster using Eminem & Dido's Stan.
Today I'm going to talk about Kevin O'Leary's comments on the FTX collapse using 50 Cent's 'Just a Lil' Bit'.
As you probably already know, celebrity investor Kevin O'Leary says he was paid $15m in total by FTX to be a spokesperson.
Since the downfall of FTX, he's said some controversial things - denying SBF ever committed fraud, claiming he'd back SBF again, blaming Binance for the downfall and claiming he lost about $9m from the collapse.
Albeit many speculate what he mans is he got paid $15m and 9 of those millions are stuck in FTX.
Anyway, let's crack on with 'my' song.
Damn baby, all I need is my money back,
$15m for the talk, $9m for the walk,
gotta call SBF, ask "where my money at?"
Drop it on my wallet, when the chips fallen.
SBF, shake that piggy bank, let me collect the coins,
man rotate that thing, I wanna touch that thing,
when you drop the coins
I step up in the crypto space, they like "who you with?",
got calls from my clique, telling me this ain't it.
I'm an investor from the old school,
I rely on other people's due diligence, fool,
I don't give a f**k, I do what I wanna do,
I invest someone's else funds, boy, I done warned you.
CNBC better listen when I talk, man, don't trip,
every investment I do is a sure hit,
your money in FTX, mine's too, mate
except that was money SBF gave me in the first place,
I ain't trying to beef with CZ, trying get my money back,
except he's worth $17b, I lost my cred.
Wearing expensive watches, red band on,
I'mma testify in congress, act like I don't know what's going on
Then they'll ask me would you invest in FTX again I just say "why not"
