A comprehensive guide to Pesearch

By qsyal | Crypto Pro | 27 Mar 2021

Presearch is one of the most valuable crypto projects that has been sparking my attention over the past few months. A crypto project that has the ambitious goal to revolutionize search engine markets, and is making big steps forward to achieve that goal. I'd already decided to do an in-depth review on Presearch weeks ago, but I was lazy enough to forget to do so.
However, since there is currently an exciting writing competition going on on Publush0x, I thought it's only fitting to do my review right now, and share with you guys some info about what I believe a crypto gem.

Let's dive in...

What is Presearch?

Presearch is a blockchain-powered, decentralized search engine that has the goal to be the go-to search platform by offering the search service in a decent manner that respects users' privacy and providing them with better search results.
Presearch also rewards users with its native token (PRE) each time they use the Presearch engine. It has around 2 million total registered users, as well as about 900,000 search queries a day.
Sounds interesting?
Well, there is still much more to it than meets the eye...

Why should you use it?

Presearch has enough features and advantages that make choosing it over the other competitors a no-brainer. Here, I'll share with you some of these features:

  • Rewards for using:
Presearch rewards users with its native token (PRE), which is an ERC-20 token built on top of Etherium. These earned tokens can be sold on exchanges.
Now, you may be asking, Is there any potential for the PRE token, so that I spend my time to earn it?
Well, this is a valid question...
As you know, most search engines including Google make it possible for advertisers to promote their products by showing ads. Those advertisers pay Google big bucks to display their ads on the first pages of search results. This is what called the "Google Adwords" service offered by Google. And there are similar services offered by other search engines.
Presearch also presents this service, where it's possible for advertisers to promote their products on the top pages of search results. However, they do not need to pay any central company, instead, they can stake their PRE tokens against the words that they want to correspond to their ads. It's partially similar to "Google Adwords" with a fundamental difference and that is advertisers' funds will not go to any greedy central company but will contribute to add value to the whole Preseach network. That means our earned PRE tokens will be needed by those advertisers to promote their products and will probably have increasing value as the user base of Presearch grows over time.

  • High quality search results:
Presearch uses advanced and transparent algorithms to display more consistent and ordered search results. You can clearly notice that when comparing Presearch results with Google's equivalents.

  • Privacy:
One day, I read a sentence that says, "If you are not paying for it, then you're not the customer; you're the product being sold."
This saying is incredibly true of Google's mindset in dealing with its users.
I mean we always use Google's services (search engine, Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube...etc), which are apparently free for all of us, but is that really true?
Well, the answer is Yes and NO...allow me to explain...
Although we use Google's services without having to pay money, Google actually makes a lot of money on the back of us. This is because it collects our personal data and monetizes it by displaying specialized ads for us. It's also believed that Google doesn't hesitate to sell our data to advertising companies or other third-party entities.
To add insult to injury, there were MANY reports that revealed that Google along with other big tech companies like Microsoft, Facebook...etc had handed over some user data to the US government on multiple occasions. As you guys know, Governments are the most interested parties in people's information and are willing to pay much for it. In other words, we are actually being SOLD each time we use one of Google's services.

In contrast, Presearch is a privacy-focused search engine that leverages smart contract functionalities to cryptographically and anonymously secure our data on the blockchain. By using Presearch, you have complete peace of mind that NO ONE can reach your data unless you choose otherwise. In my view, privacy is a human right and Presearch may be the only search engine that ensures that right.

What is PRE Level?

Before explaining what PRE Levels are, there is something we need to know.
Our use of the Google search engine is what makes it valuable. When we use Google to do a web search, we add value to it. Google benefits from the data of our searches to monetize it or sell it to third parties. On top of that Google pays NOTHING to its users for their contribution to make it great.
I don't know about you guys, but I think we can call it exploitation that Google has been practicing against us over years.
This has been the case until Presearch came along. Presearch adopts a reward system that pays users with PRE tokens for their use of the Presearch engine. It rewards them for their contribution to make Presearch a more effective search platform. However, Crypto has taught us that where rewards exist, abusers exist...
Since Presearch adopts a reward system, chances are that many will use it as a mere faucet and do countless random searches just to get the Pre tokens. Those abusers are adding no value to the platform, but are harming the system by "milking" the reward pool for their greedy benefits.
In response to that, Presearch created a proactive system that rates users based on the quality of their searches. When you sign up and start using Preseach, you'll be at level 5, so you can withdraw 50% of your earned tokens, assuming you reach the withdrawal threshold (which is currently 1,000 PRE). This level reflects your searching behavior.
Based on your current level, you have an eligible percentage of your earned tokens that can be withdrawn. Don't worry about that. The only thing you need to do to level up to higher levels is to keep using Presearch as a normal search engine, not as a faucet. You should use Presearch just as it is intended to be. This evaluation system is meant to ensure the continuity and prosperity of the project in the long-term future.

What Is Keyword Staking?

Keyword Staking is the alternative way offered by Pressearch for advertisers to promote their products or websites on the top search pages. Keyword Staking requires advertisers to stake their PRE tokens against specific words so that they attract traffic from users who are searching for said words.
You will remain to own your staked tokens and can unstake them once you want to stop the advertising campaign, so those advertisements can be considered free in a sense!
Advertisers are competing to "acquire" words. The greater amount of tokens staked, the greater the opportunity to take words.
With this mechanism, there will be an increasing demand for PRE tokens from advertisers and that will add value to the entire Presearch ecosystem for the long haul.

How to make Presearch your default search engine?

After reading all those benefits, I think it makes much sense to choose Presearch over Google. The problem is that we are accustomed to using Google in an unconscious way so that it has become difficult to remember to switch to another one regardless of how many advantages we could get. However, the easy solution is to make Presearch your default search engine so that you will automatically use it whenever you need to perform a web search.
All you need is to install the Presearch extension on your browser which will make Presearch your default search engine.

First of all, head to the Presearch web site to sign up (You can use my referral and get 25PRE to start with)

Then, if you use a Brave/Chrome browser, you can install this extension from here:

What are Presearch Nodes?

Seeking more decentralization, Presearch launched its node-based search engine on January 28th.
The Presearch Nodes involves a network of operators who participate in processing user search requests in an anonymous and decentralized manner.
Anyone is welcome to become a node operator. You should install a program called Docker on your computer or virtual server, register a node and get a registration code, and run your node.
The Presearch network rewards node operators who stake at least 1,000 PRE with PRE tokens. This incentive is provided to encourage more users to operate their own nodes and support the decentralization of the network. I must admit that I'm quite impressed by this system. It's no doubt the first project I know of that's trying to implement real decentralization on the web searching process.
If you want to dig deeper into how to operate a search node, I highly recommend you to read this article provided by Presearch's official site that covering all aspects of this particular topic.

PRE Token:

Presearch is building an entire economic system where (PRE) token is the "fuel" of this system. This token is what advertisers need to fund their advertising campaigns within the Presearch search engine by staking their token against the words that they want to link their ads to. The more tokens they stake, the more chances they get to show up on top search results. It's worth mentioning that advertisers will still own their staked tokens and can unstake them whenever they want to cancel their advertising campaign.
As the Presearch user base grows, the demand for this token should increasingly grow, and you can guess how could that affect the price.
PRE token has gone parabolic over the past 3 months and is showing no signs of slowing down. It's hovering around the $ 0.1 level, and in my opinion, it still has insane potential given the exponentially increasing numbers of Presearch users.
NOT financial advice, but I personally rather holding my earned PRE tokens for the long term instead of selling them now.

Where to buy PRE tokens:

PRE token is listed on a few exchanges, with the most liquidity on Uniswap & KuCoin, but given the great tech behind this project, I believe it is on a one-way ticket to numerous exchange listings in the future.
Exchanges that currently support PRE token:
Uniswap (v2): PRE/USDT , PRE/ETH
KuCoin: PRE/USDT , PRE/BTC
ProBit: PRE/USDT , PRE/BTC , PRE/KRW
HitBTC: PRE/BTC , PRE/ETH

Where to store PRE tokens:

Since PRE is an ERC-20 token built on top of Ethereum, you have a pretty wide range of ERC-20 compatible wallets that can be used. Here are just some of them:
MetaMask (Web Wallet)
MyEtherWallet (MEW) (webWallet)
Atomic Wallet (Desktop Wallet)
MyCrypto (web wallet)
Trezor (Hardware Wallet)

Conclusion:

Presearch is a crypto project I've been watching for quite some time, and I can't help but marvel at just how much ground they've covered so far.
It's one of the only projects that hold a revolutionary vision that could break the awful monopolization we suffer from in terms of the web search process. The big challenge for Presearch is that it's in a direct fight against the most powerful companies in the world, including Google and Microsoft, and it is anything but easy to overcome such giants.
However, Presearch manages to "steal" some more attention and become integrated into the day-to-day browsing experience of internet users, it could end up seeing explosive growth for this project.
I will definitely keep a close eye on it...

What do you guys think about the Presearch project?
I'm keen to learn your opinions and thoughts...

Thank you for reading:))
