"We need it.
Enforced transparency is holding blockchain back. Without end-to-end privacy, real world assets and players will never fully come on-chain.
We don’t have it.
Today’s privacy is pretend. Centralized sequencers, backdoors, and TEEs will never meet our bar. We don’t need an add-on—we need a real end-to-end system.
It needs to be flexible.
Privacy can’t be all or nothing. Builders need to be able to program privacy at the different levels and layers that make sense for their projects.
It needs to be practical.
Privacy has to make sense for developers: easy to code, fast to execute and affordable to scale."
This is what the Aztec L2 promise is about. It's about an ethereum L2 that is decentralized (unliked Base or others which depend on one single company) and that is private at its core. I've talked about Xelis, I've talked about Midnight Cardano, but this is one project I believe will be huge when it comes out. Ledgers on traditionnal chains like BTC and ETH are great, but the public aspect of it causes risks to people's privacy. Imagine you pay irl something and the seller figures out that you have X amount of money. They can easily follow you and demand that you send your crypto to them or else...
This causes fear and no one wants to be a target.
ETH is great for its DeFi activity, but it fails to be a replacement to money. It's not wise to walk with you full networth on display and even if you simply send from a wallet to your "daily" wallet, well that can be seen by others too.
Aztec gives people the ability to host the network in a decentralized and accessible way just like ETH, but even more accessible. You need 200 000 AZTEC tokens to start participating in the networks' security. This will be a lot cheaper than being an ETH validator. Hardcoded directly into Aztec’s base protocol is decentralized 1) sequencing, 2) proving and 3) governance. Privacy is only possible when there’s no central entity with the power to violate it. See for yourself in the base code.
Network Operators 184 Active Sequencers 4,422 That's the people who are part of Aztec BEFORE it is even launched. The TGE of the token will be as soon as February 11th as the community votes on the TGE and the mainnet will start to become accessible for all. Now you can maintain end-to-end privacy. The advantage of ETH, with the privacy of Monero. That is what crypto is for. Privacy first L2 on ETH. The future is now.
