I was never into video games. It seemed to be mostly about mayhem or otherwise being lost in a cave or forest for endless stretches of time. I tried a few of the farmville type games but they were literally watching grass grow! Other games brag about how you "play" even when you are asleep...to each their own, but me personally I do it for the fun and real-time interaction.   

Then I discovered Gods unchained. A crypto based game that is representative of what I think will be the wave of the future where you own your players/cards and develop your own strategy while benefiting from the ability to not only win nfts to use in the game, but also the ability to buy or sell these nft's through the IMX marketplace for very low fees (actually no fee to the seller). In addition, you win the tokens, GODS, needed to do this by playing the game and can even earn staking benefits by holding gods directly through the site.   

What I love about the game is the challenging strategy involved where you select the 30 cards for the game under the auspices of one of the 6 gods, each offering different powers and abilities, and then in real time play another player who had made their own decisions on the god they want to represent this game and which cards they have chosen. In a way it's like chess, with different cards having different costs to play and different abilities, so learning when to play what card depending on what your opponent chooses is really challenging and interesting.  And they introduce new cards from time also and have an active community site where you can look to see which cards are playing the best currently.   

Yet, even with all this, the game is relatively easy to learn and to set up and play, with tutorials you can watch (and some good youtube ones also) and practice games, and when you feel ready to play, you start out at the lowest level against others in a similar skill level. You never lose tokens or the cards in games-they are always yours and transferable. So you literally have nothing to lose and a lot of fun to gain. Eventually the nfts could end up being worth a fair amount of money, but I do it the intellectual challenge and enjoyment of the game.  

There are weekend tournaments where you try to win as many games as you can in the first 18 games and are rewarded with extra prize benefits that buy you cards and allow you to upgrade the cards you have, and if you win 30 games in a weekend (which is pretty easy to do) you earn a premium pack of nfts. Again, no cost, fun to play and you play is rewarded with things of real value.
