Beginning August 3, Google advertising policies will change regarding the ban for cryptocurrency ads. They will allow companies to advertise Cryptocurrency Exchanges and Wallets targeting the United States when they meet the requirements and are certified by Google. Ads for coin offerings, DeFi trading protocols, or promoting the purchase, sale, trade of cryptocurrencies will not be allowed.

The previous ban beginning in 2018 with Google said: “We’ve seen enough consumer harm or potential for consumer harm that it’s an area that we want to approach with extreme caution” following a similar move from Facebook. But Google is now peeled back the restriction for digital currency exchanges & wallets. Starting in August, Google will let companies run ads on Google Search, YouTube, and other ads if they go through the approbation process.

Google is making this change to better match existing FinCEN regulations and requirements.
