Introduction
As part of the this three-part series (see the first part on NBM: Shadowdepths here), the NBM Battleminers blockchain game includes three major components for player gain. The Apertion Region is one of two that puts NBM NFTs to direct use for in-game token gain and possible NFT rewards. The Apertion Region works as probably the most passive involvement: you simply park the game NFTs and wait for rewards. It's also the easiest for players to get started in with their NFTs.
Background
Located in the game menu under PLAY, the Apertian Region is essentially a big grid view similar to older board games like Risk, for example.

A player doesn't need the season pass for any major benefit here; instead, game NFTs are the basic requirement. Once in the game view and seeing the grid, there's a couple of things to pay attention to. A player clicks on a grid to activate it.

When clicked, a game dialog appears and asks whether one wants to add or remove an NFT for grid mining. That then goes to the NFT display selection, and the player selects what is moved.

Each grid allows the parking of a number of NFTs. A player can spread one in each grid or lump them all together in one location only. Each grid spot has different features which, when combined with the NFTs parked, produce different results. Grids with color highlights have special bonus, such as the one above shaded green and "x3." A player can also use the right side menu to see instructions, filters for which NFTs are parked where or to just auto-park NFTs quickly or remove and move on.
The goal is to park the right NFTs on grid spots that maximize rewards. Rewards are mainly in-game tokens and sometimes WAXP. They are paid every hour, and the amounts increase based on the mix above. While the Grid is not going to break the bank, it's a good place to park NBM NFTs so that they are generating something while waiting to be used for other purposes or to be added to a mining operation (discussed in another article coming).
What Do I Win?
Which NFTs work for the Grid? Basically, all of them. You can park as many as are in your NFT wallet and connected to the WAX Blockchain. As noted earlier, hourly small rewards go out automatically. Every once in a great while someone gets a big jackpot prize. The calculation is basically (plot yield * total RESM of their cards on that plot (1/3/7/15.*RESM random token)). See RESM value on your NBM NFTs assigned. Rewards a dropped as follows:
- Small Win - 10 cells
- Big win - 5 cells
- Jackpot - 2 cells
Any secondary market movement of an owned NFT in the Grid removes it. That includes selling, gifting and transfers. There is also a random NFT drop schedule twice daily.
