You Panic! Atlease that's what I did! What ever Coins you had in that wallett are locked until you can find the seed phrase!
So back in about 2017 when I really started getting into crypto, I thoguth best thing to do is buy a decent wallett. Bought a Ledger NanoS, worked great. But I am unorganized attimes, and have so many notes, I keept note books on paper for everything and that adds up after awhile. year later when the Bitcoin went ultra bullish, I frantically looked for my see phrase, all my possible note books I thought I would have them in. I don't keep them on my PC, for security reasons.
I was so annoyed, Ledger was pretty new at the time, and they had done an update to 1.4.1. Suddenly all my online ledger's were wiped out and couldn't access any of them. I don't know how much coins I had on there, but I had a few hundred dollars of BTC, ETH, XRP, LTC and other good coins, since I could only choose like 10 coins at the time to keep on the wallett. My theory is, a few hundred dollars locked up since avout 2016-2017 is, could be a few thousand dollars, depending on how much of my ETH and BTC I had, and most of them were on the Nano, because I didn't trust my BTC, ETH to anywhere else. They were he gods of the coins and volatility was at all time highs and making profits was easier then all this side ways trading we've had.
A couple days ago I was going through one of my notebooks looking for some random notes, and by GOD! I have found my seed phrase. I am the happiest Crypto Chick in the world right now. I can't wait to see if I had some good stuff saved on there. I have been watching video's, reading all morning on how to upgrade Nano S from 1.4.1 to the next update and finally all the updates that I missed all these years.
If anyone has been through this please let me know the best way of going about fixing it. I am scared that If I hit Reset, It will reset all my seeds words and make it worthless. I keep seeing different videos, reading opposite stories of what people did. But no one goes into detail on, how to really refresh the Nano S, and 100% fact that my crypto would still be there somewhere? Any best places to check would be much apprciated.
So moral of the story. When you get a Cold Wallett, which you should do absolutely. Espicially if you are investing a lot of money for Bitcoin, Ethereum and other popular coins that might buy you that dream house on the beach one day. I would suggest, making like 10-20 lists and hide them around the house where you know they will be trusted and no one will throw them away, and assumng you live with good people, good family who wouldn't try to tip you off. I made the mistake, got so excited wrote it down in my one special password notebook, but turns out I had written it in a newer mini notebook that I was making for the new year. I am ot scredwriting down that info on paper and keeping everything organized. I don't have shady peoplecome over my house, nor anyone that comes over would have an idea what I am talking about once I start talking Crypto. So be safe, buy a good Hardware Storage, keep it in a waterproof/fireproof lock box, and keep the seed phrases in various places where you know you will find them. We all have our a few little secret hiding spots that we check from time to time if we can't find things where we usually keep them.
Again, if anyone can give me the saafest way to update my Nano S with out any chance of wiping out my seed phrase, and ledger's they were once hooked up to. Please point me to the best place. Even Ledger website is a bit vague about the exact situation I am in. I can't get out of version 1.4.1, tried to plug it in holding left button and it just freezes on theBootloader mode. I haven't tried any other ways because I don't wantto mess this up. I downloaded the new software on PC and Cell. It's not recognizing it. Some people say to start it off as a New Device, but will that clear out the whole thing and wipe out seed phrase, coins? Any help would be appreciated! WISH ME LUCK! If I sudenly become like a Trillionaire when I get it unlocked drinks are on me and we will all be driving Lambo's on our own island .
