As you may know, I have published an extensive how-to blog post named How to set-up a Presearch node (Windows version). There i was explaining how to set up a Presearch node, and i said that I will come back with more info when I know more. Now, almost 2 months later, i was already paid once, with 500 PRE for 1000 PRE staked and beta-testing it. I had to answer to a survey, where I shared my opinion and talked about my issues. As for the rewards, i just staked on top of my initial 1000 PRE.

Now, from 2 months ago until now a lot happened. The new Presearch engine went online, and the rewards per search adapted to the new PRE token value. It used to be 0.25 PRE (0.005 USD), but now it is only 0.10 PRE (0.006 USD). So, even if they pay less, the value reported to the dollar is higher. But it will take much more to do the 1000 needed for a node, especially if you go only for search and you have no referrals. On top of that, from the end of February (22nd, I think it is) the rewards for the node changed their algorithm, so really I do not know yet how much they pay right now. You can find more detailed information in their latest post (link here).
I only tested the Windows version, as the Linux one must be much easier to set-up. I hope this will help you, if you are thinking about setting up a node, good luck. Any question you have, ask on comments, I'll be happy to help if i know how.
Yours truly
George
