Do not hope without despair, or despair without hope! (weekly crypto updates)

What happened in crypto in the past week? This week . I found a way to expose myself to BTC via BlackRock, using Freetrade. Feel free to check them. What else? Read below:

  • Bitcoin: Strategy just rebuilt its cash reserve after Bitcoin buy (another 520 BTC added). Strategy shares hit their lowest level in two years. Grayscale's researcher wants Strategy to sell at least $3B in BTC to cover its next two years of cash obligations. Inresponse, Saylor signalled another BTC buy this morning. Ripple CEO told CNBC that he remains bullish on Bitcoin, but Michael Saylor has damaged the broader crypto market. Those living in glass houses should not throw stones! Deutsche Bank says that Bitcoin is now an institutional asset, whose price depends on fund flows, Fed expectations and AI capital competition rather than retail sentiment. There are three individual paths, also could work together, to push BTC to $1M (we are talking about institutional adoption, government accumualtion, and a loss of confidence in fiat money). Bitcoin is testing the four-year cycle, but still trades above the $54K on-chain cost basis. So yeah, some analysts think that BTC can still go as low as that. Down to $58K, Bitcoin hit its lowest price in over a year.

  • Ethereum: Bitmine is closing in on its ETH supply target of 5%, as they got 94% of the way to its target. The Ethereum Foundation announced on June 23 it will cut its budget by roughly 40% and lay of 54 employees. Nine senior figures left since January 2026.

  • Altcoins and stablecoins: MoneyGram became a Solana validator. Brazilians can now hold USDT through their banking app. Chainlink is testing stablecoin settlement for global fx trades. Kalshi is now seeking fresh capital at a $40B valuation, nearly double its pevious $22B target. Multicoin Capital projected HyYPE at approx $319 by 2028, 400% up. Spark and Uniswap built a stablecoin switching layer, letting institutions move between USDS, USDT, and PYUSD, with minimal slippage. The Bank for International Settlements warned that stablecoins could break the money system. Feel the burn!

  • NFTs and blockchain games: I have also enjoyed playing Golem Overlord lately on Hive, and it is quite engaging, I would say, with no significant updates lately. On Splinterlands, we have had the Land NFT new update and improved tokenomics, and the new cards from the Escalation mini collection are up and running.

  • Good news: Three of the largest US crypto advocacy groups asked the Congress to pass mining tax bill now. The bill lets miners and stakers choose when to pay tax on earned assets. SBI Holdings, Japan's biggest brokerage, agreed to acquire Tokyo-based crypto exchange BitBank for $289M, and a chance to become Japan's largest crypto exchange. Circle and Nomura are building stablecoin FX for Japan.

  • Bad news: Meta is building a prediction market app called Arena, and as usual, Mark is late to the party. Is was a depeg week festival, with msY depeging over 70%, sUSD to wind down after being depeffed for over a year, and MIM depegged more than 45%. Exploits all over also, with Axelar-Secret bridge being exploited with $4.67M in assets taken, Taiko bridge exploited for $1.7M, and Cardano wallet Secondfi being exploited for 16M ADA tokens, with another 129M ADA tokens secured in whitehat operations.

  • Joke of the week: Trump signed two executive orders Monday targeting quantum computing development and faster adoption of Quantum-resistant encryption. Busy week, he also blocked a CBDC ban from becoming law, putting a provision barring the FEDS from issuing CBDC until 2030 on hold.

All the best,

George

Why not...

...have fun and win rewards on my favourite blockchain games (Splinterlands- a Hearthstone-like card game) (Golem Overlord - a Play2Earn game on Hive) (Holozing - a Pokemon-like game)and ( Chain of Legends - with a hint of Heroes of Might and Magic).
