This post is for all the beginners out there - the cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies are expanding every day. I think is never too late to start learning something new especially if you are interested in that area.
You are new to blockchain and don't know how to start? Well, all of we were beginners at some point, right?
This is a personal overview, something that I did to get started and understand how some blockchains work.
Personally, I do believe that blockchain is the future, think of some cryptocurrencies that are decentralized (there is no central authority that have all the control, but small parts everywhere in the world are involved) and every transaction is transparent (basically you can track transactions in the blockchain), also if you have your own wallet all the money are yours, no one have access to them.
Maybe you have read already some words that are new to you? Well, I have created 6 Parts of crypto words (dictionary) where I explain some words from crypto domain, please find them all at the end of the article in the Resources section.
This is a personal overview and how I should start if I were at my first cryptocurrencies steps:
1. DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH - you have to accommodate with these new words, even if you maybe don't understand them in the first place you just have to give yourself time; there are lots of great tutorials & videos out there, you just need to spend some time in this direction, maybe you can take some notes; it's a learning process that needs time;
2. VERIFY EVERY INFORMATION - it is very important to filter the information you read, if you see a comment on a social media about a super duper cryptocurrency and someone says that you have to buy that crypto, you need first to check it; best resource in order to do this are the cryptocurrency's official website, then you can start searching other information from different resources;
3. YOUR PURPOSE - why are you interested in this technology? do you think it's the future? do you think it's an opportunity to invest some money? in this case long term or short term? maybe you are just curious how it works and would like to play around? please try to answer to yourself these questions, I think they will strengthen your motivation in order to continue;
4. YOUR FIRST INVESTMENT - lots of words, but with no action is zero; you have to start from somewhere; personally I understood that my experience will have also a cost; the cost was money, because I had to play around to understand how things work; this is not expensive, with a few dollars you can do some experiments such us buy crypto / sell crypto;
If you would like to experiment some good platforms, I will recommend you two of them that I am currently using:
1. BINANCE - it has small fees, great user experience and also it has a new Beginner Mode called Binance Lite only with basic actions like buying and selling crypto; it has diversity of cryptocurrencies, lots of promotions and I do believe it can be a good starting point for experience; you can start with just 15$; create an account using this link we'll both get some bonuses;
2. CRYPTO.COM - this is also a nice app with nice and simple user experience; I'm using it for quite now and I think it's really good for a beginner; they have also some physical cards that you can get and some other great stuff; also you can create an account using this link and we'll both get some bonuses;
Note: using these 2 platforms is involving KYC - Know Your Customer - is a normal process for the big exchanges out there, this means that some identity information you will have to provide in order to create an account;
To conclude, the research part is the most important to have a knowledge base and after that you need to play around and experiment, yes it's possible that you will lose some money at the beginning doing some transactions to sell or buy, but experience need to come with a cost, right?
