The long-awaited Ethereum 2.0 upgrade gained momentum as planned on Tuesday, December 1 at 1 p.m. ET.
The countdown could only be started after a total of 524,288 ETH had been deposited into the deposit agreement.
The contract has now racked up more than one million ETH worth over $ 605 million.
