Permissionless II

One Week Away: Permissionless II in Austin, TX

By Valdyr | Crypto-Curious Blogger | 5 Sep 2023

Permissionless II, billed as the largest DeFi conference in the world, begins Monday, September 11th in Austin, TX. This year's event is expecting over 7,000 attendees for the span of the three day conference.

This year's conference boasts an outstanding line-up of speakers including Vitalik Buterin - the creator of Ethereum - as the keynote speaker. The three day agenda includes founders and top-level executives from some of the biggest names in the industry, along with crypto political advocates and, of course, members of a wide variety of DeFi projects. Some notable names include Anatoly Yakovenko and Raj Gokal (Co-founders of Solana), Mary-Katherine Lader (COO of Uniswap Labs), Hong Fang (President of OKX), Jesse Pollak (Creator at Base & Head of Protocols at Coinbase), and Stani Kulechov (Founder & CEO of AAVE). Each day's schedule begins with a wide array of general session talks in the morning, with up to four break-out tracks to choose from each afternoon.

With such a packed three-day line-up, it's no surprise that tickets are now $1199 per person during this last week leading up to the event. But there are some discount codes floating around out there for the price-conscious attendee. For instance, are you a member of the 5% Club on Task On? If so, you can use your Task On Loyalty NFT from last season to score a 20% discount to this year's event. Are you a university student? Then you've got one of the best deals at scoring a ticket to Permissionless II for only $99 with the proper ID!

Speaking of price-consciousness, Blockworks (host of Permissionless II) has worked out several discount blocks for a handful of the hotels surrounding the Austin Convention Center. But if you're really on a budget and not adverse to walking a few minutes, a quick search on your favorite discount hotel app will find plenty of rooms in the surrounding area. And with the views along the parks and trails lining the Colorado River, you may just not mind the opportunity to touch grass on your way to and from the convention center.

This year, Permissionless II is also hosting a Hackathon over the weekend leading up to the conference as part of a collaboration among Blockworks, Bankless, and buidlbox. Participants will have 24 hours to build on industry protocols and solve complex problems with other web2 and web3 developers. As a bonus, all qualified hackathon participants receive a FREE ticket to the Permissionless II conference!

Are you attending Permissionless II next week? If so, I'd love to hear about your experiences. And as a Texan myself, let me offer you a warm welcome to Texas - and don't forget to try the BBQ!
