Lost points and "Investors"

Maybe it is just me, but any entity in the Crypto world that has any " money" attached to it has lost the point of why they have crypto.

That part gets lost, easily. Especially because the ones most loudest, are the ones trying to use it to make money. So whenever I talk or hear the word "invest" They are trying to get rich, instead of recognising they already are, and that in life there really are no short cuts...The work must be done.

While at a machine, a lady at a regular ATM asked me what that machine was, that she had always been curious.  I am far from an expert, I would say that the knowledge I do have is simple, and I have a knack for putting it in those terms. So I told her it is a Bitcoin/Cryptocurrency Machine, and waited for the " What is that" question.  It didn't happen though.
Like a lady yelling bingo, it sprang "OH ! I have some of that".  Of course I was excited, I am always excited when ever there is an opportunity to talk about Crypto, next to dogs it is my favourite subject to talk about.
So she went on about her curiosity about the machine but had never seen one used, so I asked her if she wanted me to show her, and with an astounding "sure" we were off.
This lady was at least my age, so old, very attractive.  She had Bitcoin, but she did not have a wallet, which was fine I used mine and walked her through how the machine and a wallet work.  None of it she knew about at all.  'My broker got me the coins", ahhhh.  So when I told her they were not actually her coins she sounded surprised and wanted to know how they were not.

It bothers me that Crypto has been exploited to the degree that it has.
I have  the same relative issue with many things though these days so it is not surprising Crypto is also on that list.  So because she was curious and seemed to have time to chat, I did.

I explained to her that if you are not the one in possession of the seed phrase  which could be anywhere from 12 -24 words, or the "keys" as it were,
they were not yours, and should this broker die or take off there was a pretty good chance the coins would be gone right along with him.
They are a great investment she said and the word "investment" has maximum cringe for me.
I then asked her, do you invest in any other currencies? She seemed perplexed and quickly replied no.  To which I replied then why do you think "cryptocurrency" is an investment?
Well its price goes up and down she said, to which I explained no, 1 bitcoin will always be 1 Bitcoin.  Which fluctuates with the dollars value, just like any other currency.
Your broker just uses it to make him more money,  because if you had it in your own wallet, just on its own it would not change.
It is worth more/less as the dollar fluctuates, but is really only relative to the value of the dollar, not the coin.

It is not an investment, it is a lifestyle...Like moving to Barbados, only not.
It is not any of the governments business, any more that it is any business of theirs as to how many bananas are on your counter.
It is not theirs to have any business in. unless you convert it to their currency.

They did not create it, Satoshi Nakamoto created, for that very reason.  It puts responsibility and control back in our hands, not the governments and the banks/lawyers/accountants of the world.
It was then her mouth dropped open a bit, and a light came on in her head.
The events that put me there were less than pleasant, and I was very unhappy I had to be there at all, however after running into her, and enjoying a cool chat about Crypto gave her some pieces she did not have before it made the previous stress vanish, almost like she was supposed to talk to me that day. She was thankful and a bit more educated, so I was happy.

The biggest difference for me between legal tender and Crypto currency is control, in that we have it and they do not.  There is no double spending not with the block-chain at least, even though that is what brokers and exchanges inadvertently do more or less, without doing it in my opinion.  That is why it is so valuable.  It takes work and responsibility to take care of it, and miners make sure the currency is there with multiple verification's so there is no double spending like the monetary system.  It naturally creates more value, not less because it is trust based in a trust-less society.

I like the fact that if something happens it is my fault, and I know it is.  When it is my fault it is more easily solved, and or prevented because I know where the mistake was made.  I like the lifestyle because it sifts out or weeds out those that I cannot trust.  Trust is assumed, until it is not. Making you trust or not trust worthy.  It is clear, concise and fast.

I am not sure why folk value money so much and people and work so less..We are here though, and in Bitcoin we trust.  We trust and verify.

Nothing made sense until I fell into discord. I may have been logical in an illogical world, so I learned to be illogical...Or not. Now I must undo that, and am in search of those lines in between. What is, and what is not and finding some balance.

Crypto, chicks, and being old.
Crypto, chicks, and being old.

I do not know, perhaps it is because I am simple. I enjoy a drama free life, and to me Crypto is drama free. I am old and really enjoy the simplicity. I do not really understand all the back end stuff that goes along with it though, not yet at least, and to be honest at this age I am not sure how realistic it is to set the bar that high. Now, I say it is drama free, that does not mean it is not drama free for everyone.
