Webaverse Co-founder's Trust wallet hacked

By Yugocean | Crypto Champion | 8 Feb 2023

Ahad Shams, co-founder of the Web3 metaverse game engine "Webverse," has lost $4 million from his trust wallet.

Shams 's story - Hack by taking pictures?

According to Shams, two fraudsters met him as investors in a hotel lobby in Rome and persuaded him to demonstrate the trust wallet as "proof of funds." Shams created a new trust wallet account, to which he transferred $4 million in crypto. Fraudsters only took some pictures of the wallet. Shams neither shared keys nor used public WiFi that time; however, the wallet was drained after both fraudsters left the lobby, and both never returned.

Trust Wallet Defence

To this, Eowane Chen, CEO of Trust Wallet, defended the Trust wallet App and called it an In person OTC scam. But this strange explanation has angered many people.

Possible hole

Some people believe that the scammer may have scanned the QR while taking the photo, and the victim didn't understand it.

Always be vigilant; never share images of your wallet or allow anyone to take pictures.
