Popular digital currency data aggregator, analyst, and ranking system Coingeco has analyzed crypto interest in 2023 on a year-to-date (YTD) basis, with Nigeria leading the way so far.
Nigeria is leading
Only 15 countries account for 97.5% of crypto interest on the continent of Africa so far, with Nigeria leading the way as the single country with the highest level of 66.78%. In the crypto sector, Nigeria has overtaken South Africa, considered the most developed in Africa, which is in second place with 8.36%.

People have spoken
Nigeria in general is one of the countries where more efforts were made to ban crypto and policies were made to increase the use of CBDC. But it was not possible to ban crypto, and the people involved in CBDC's promotion turned towards crypto itself. Now generosity has to be shown in politics as well.
Where is CAR?
The Central African Republic, which became the second country in the world and the first in Africa to make bitcoin legal tender, is nowhere to be found on Coingeco's list. This puts it below even Botswana and Seychelles, the lowest-ranked of the 15 countries on the list, with 0.39%.
