Ethereum, considered a rival to Bitcoin in the crypto world, reached the $2,000 figure after the Shanghai upgrade.

Not Criticised but criticised 

     Big economists and economic experts are standing against bitcoin, but they only name bitcoin or crypto; no one directly names Ethereum. For this reason, Etherium may have been saved from financial disputes but remains infamous in the crypto world due to its gas fees.

Stake was to go

     After becoming PoS in ETH 2.0, Ethereum was once again infamous because staked Ethereum or the rewards received from it could not be withdrawn. That was probably a gas problem.

Shanghai Surprise 

     Now, after the Shanghai/Shapella upgrade, stakers can unstake their Ethereum in full or in part and can also withdraw rewards. Now, whether Ethereum will blossom, only time will tell.
